What do you guys like to do in eve to completely waste time? I'm not refering to mission running or spending 3 hours mindlessly mining :P I mean just completely and utterly wasting time. Me personally I like to go to the system sun and turn my graphics to max and just watch it for a while, sometimes do some spinning :D

Arguing with trolls and/or morons on the forums is the perfect time-waster. I daresay, even more fun than station-spinning ! Occasionally, helping out some guys with their issues, but that's not exactly a complete waste of time (but then again, not of much use to me), so not sure if it really counts.

Having said that, probing out wormholes and anoms with little intention of running them.
This to be honest, though would extend that to all types of probing (including finding ships) for no particular reason. I suppose you could argue that the time spent probing is good practice, and therefore not wasted, but to do so would be a waste of time. ----

Well, for me it's endlessly searching for alternative ways to make ISK outside of mission running. It's not intended to be a total waste of time and effort, but in the end that's what I have. Recent examples...
1. Cloud Harvesting in High Sec (total waste of training time, effort & ISK) 2. Copying(full run)BPC's of Small Tractor Beams (worthless in every way).
Trying to get started in any market or manufacturing seems to be a fail because of established competition. Scanning/Probing in High Sec has become highly popular to the point of being overcrowded. Null Sec and Low Sec are too high risk and costly in equipment losses (more wasted time).
So it's back to Mission Grinding in order to feed the PvP monster (the only redemption for an overcrowded sandbox full of Carebears and Concord Cops).
<sigh> Really, I'm not as bitter as it sounds ...

Players who hang outside trade hubs waiting for someone to get ganked with hopes of getting some good salvage seem to have a lot of time to waste.
Players who set up warp disruption units in null sec and then wait for some fly to get caught in their trap seem to have a lot of time to waste.
Players calling themselves "Ninja" salvagers seem to have a whole lot of time to waste.
I make 40+ jumps to 4 different level 4 R&D agents to do the "errand" missions to get extra RPs. I would expect a bunch of players consider that a real waste of time.
High sec exploration is often a waste of time.
Searching through contracts for a good deal is often a waste of time.
Trying to log in at 11:30 Eve time in hopes of a short downtime is really a waste of time.
Any noob without a clue joining a player corp thinking it will be to their advantage has a lot of time to waste.

Calculate effective missile damage for a given ship against mission rats using spreadsheets and code. I'm at the point where I'm writing a program to calculate the expected damage (Time to Kill) for a given mission based on the spawns and initial starting distance.

I wanted to see how far along OpenOffice has come compared to Excel. It's looking like Microsoft is becoming the train company in the trains versus trucking competition.
Either way, it doesn't take long before a small perl script trumps a spreadsheet.
