I'm starting to think that mission-running for Gallente is completely pointless.
MOST of the storyline missions I get - including my last four or five in a row - are these "Troop Build Up" missions to lowsec.
I've attempted to complete one of these. While I was fighting a massive fleet of NPC ships, some player pirates followed me to my deadspace encounter, killed my Vexor cruiser (aka "the best ship I am able to fly") in about two seconds, and podkilled me.
I've been playing about a month; I got my first one of these missions when I'd been playing under a week, as a storyline mission for my first handful of level one missions.
I get that these missions are related to in-game developments, but it's preposterous that they're storyline missions for running level one, or even level two, missions. I could take out the NPC fleet - it would take me at least an hour, but I could do it. But my character doesn't have the skills to be able to take on PvP (especially when I'm outnumbered by players in bigger, stronger ships), and frankly, neither do I. (If I did, it would be rather a bad sign for EVE, since I've been playing for about a month, and if a rank newbie like me could match it up with experienced pilots, it would mean that pvp in this game was broken.)

Move to a different agent. When choosing an Agent I tens to look where they are on the map and try to pick one that does not have any lowsec systems within 2 or 3 jumps.
You may take a hit on agent quality, but you will probably end up with a lot less failed stroylines.

Those are new experimental ( broken ) missions for gallente only.
I suggest you do missions for minmatar or sisters of eve and get derived standings

Imagine that, PvP happened on a PvP server in a PvP game. Shocking.

Don't work for those.
Quafe agents in Caldari and Amarr space send you to the ex-Gallente now Caldari FW area to do them.
Some people has got a mission at a range of 20 jumps following the fastest route, 35 following the most secure.
People in Solitude get it.
It is the Dominion gift to Gallente.

And two or three jumps isn't the limit - I've been sent on a nine-jump journey to get to the lowsec system target.
It's just a tad frustrating, given that it's more or less inherent in the setup that for it to be possible for me to complete these missions, EVE PvP would have to be utterly broken - and it isn't, clearly, broken that way, so the way it works out is that Gallente don't get storyline missions.

The mission guys at CCP are idiots. Run missions for another faction before you screw up your faction standing any more and have to grind level one agents forever to recover.

Decline those missions, Probably best to go do missions for Minmatar. You'll still gain faction standing with Gallente, just will take a lot longer.
You can also work the Gallente agents in this for Faction Standing.

This!
Got two of those storylines in a row! I¦m trying to build up for R&D Agents use. Can you imagine how "pleased" i am with this?
Btw hoping that all factions get this "experimental" missions soon. Than see the tears in forum. But i think it won¦t happen. CCP hates gallente.

This is one reason why my raising standings to use r&d agents doesn't rely on storyline missions. Some "experienced" players insist that sorylines the way to go yet seam to take longer about it. If you get a storyline, well and good bonus, but dont depend on it.
In the last year I've had 4 low sec, longer distant storylines - declined 3 of them (17-23 jumps with several low sec systems on the way) and the 4th I did which was 1 jump into low sec 9 jumps away (got a corp escort). Mine were all the deliver the 40,000 mtrs which anyone can get. If in doubt, reject them.

:bitter:
About a week ago, I blew a gasket about this. I counted up how many storylines I've had to dump and how many I'd taken into lowsec. 12 dumped storylines, 3 I'd done. 15 storyline missions into lowsec in the couple of months I'd been doing missions. 15 x 16 = 240 missions that led to lowsec runs as a new player... really "thoughtful" design feeding new players to gate camps & pirate types...
I learned to read the map after I lost a ship trying a mission I ended up dumping. x number of ships destroyed, x number of pods... 24 hrs, last hour, jumps, police faction ships destroyed, etc.. So seeing 9 ships, 3 pods in the last hour -- I'm not going into that system. Drop the mission. Of the 3 I'd done, I had someone pop in right as I was warping out from finishing one...
Jump count? It wanted to send me 12 jumps on the last one -- 4 deep into lowsec. That's when I blew up and decided to find a different path to take. I'd switched corporations and worked back up to L3's planning on avoiding lowsec missions until I'm ready for that kind of stuff... It didn't work.
So I went to the startup areas for Gallente and did those missions -- the tutorials are all storyline missions and go very fast, giving good faction gains. I also did several of the cosmos missions for the criminal tags -- again, storyline missions giving good bonuses.
This opened up SOE big time for me (L3's & 4's now) and doing storylines for SOE gives Gallente faction gains as well. Minmitar will give a bit also. Related factions stuff.
A few folks have recommended certain agents at some corps to do missions for vs other corporations. It seems there's some favoritism based upon the agents on if you'll get sent off to lowsec or not but there's no site on the web that lists which ones are 'screw you!' and which ones aren't so you'll need to find that out or find other methods.. like I did.
