Story time guys.
Before i joined DOOM, around a month ago, i pulled a small theft from æLurkerZÆ corp. Whilst it only netted me around a 1 Billion it can now be seen in hindsight as the precursor to a substantial and entertaining steal; the story of which i will now recount:
Around 3 days ago a character from the aforementioned corp convoed me, most of the corp has been hounding me for several months so i thought nothing of it and passed the convo off as another attempt to get me to give back the stuff i took. This was different though, the character indicated a desire to screw LurkerZ over and moreover the new alliance they joined; he figured by convoing me i could aid him in said theft.
Interested, i pushed him for more information û what did he have access to? What was the potential take? He revealed that he had access to several POS within L4X (Geminate) and that said POS had several cap ships stored within a Capital Ship Maintenance Array, along with hundereds of t2/t1/faction ships in the standard ship hangers. Added to this was a modest BPO collection that i valued at around 1 billion and a Redeemer located within a station hanger.
Now convinced, i scrambled to alert gh-sc and acquire a pilot for the ships i couldnÆt fly out myself, a little over an hour ago we pulled the theft off flawlessly; this is part of what we got:

Below is a list of items that has me bothered over this:
Why would anyone have a character name with Dong in it (Raven next to the Redeemer, it made me lol and yes, I'm 5).
Would you ever name your Chimera "Big Durka stick"? How about "Red's Overlord" with over sized O's.
"Shadow's Baby" and "My lil shadow" seem like Shadow needs some loving. Perhaps you can send him a loving eve mail?
How many times have you come across a HIC named "stand still"? Original...very original.
It would be really nice to see ship names that described the person that flew them like "Pompus Tosspot" or "Stupid Chav".
At least it would be original.

Confirming that in real life I'm a business owner, former military, and former militia member, who occasionally goes out into badly policed areas with a tank, blows up random people's cars and kills them for the fun of it.

Actually, I gotta be honest. The idea of theft and corporate espionage is kinda one of the big selling points for Eve. I personally know at least 20+ people who have started playing the game because of the PC Gamer article about GH-SC's story.

Its a ****ty way to lose stuff, but its also a good lesson for life "trust no one".
As a peon I will not post with my main to ensure my corp is not associated with my opinions. Having been in Curse myself for a short while I did find that the security focus was in totally the wrong place.
Use the roles, hangars and station containers people.
Still thing it's a cr4ppy way to lose stuff but hope its once bitten twice shy (in other words learn from it and make sure it does not happen again).

I got a few messages and after a convo, I figured I'd share some hilarity that is "Tiger Cub"
Several months ago, I was contacted by an old friend who had been out of game for a while. He wanted to get back into playing, and wanted me to help him set up and run a corp. I said "sure thing" and after explaining to my then-CEO what I'd be doing, I dropped roles and set off to this new project.
Only to find out it wasn't just me and my buddy who would be running things. See, he had found this guy named "Tiger Cub" in the recruitment channel, and he seemed to know a lot about Eve. After listening to him a couple times on Vent, I got the immediate impression he did know a lot. There was some hot air mixed in, but hey-what could it hurt?
We move to Black Rise to do some level 4's, recruit, and do some mining. I lay down the rules for recruiting as I've done it before: limited API's, run some cursory checks of the names on forums, check contract history, SP minimum, and so on. That doesn't happen, and after a few days of not logging in, I find when I do that we have over 50 people. Some barely three weeks old. No, this is not what I left my old corp to do. Me and Tiger end up arguing on Vent, with him saying that he knows what he's doing and my way just won't work.
So now I'm teaching people how to play Eve when I log in. I don't know anyone's names, or who they are, because Tiger Cub doesn't respond to Eve mails. He also takes people in based on his "gut feeling" that they're ok.
That leads to Silphe coming in. I guess because he had a Nyx they went all ga-ga and let him have director roles right off the bat. Not only at this point do we still have tabs that say "Hanger 1", but nobody has a clue what we are supposed to be doing. When I'm on, I'm getting people moved, answering basic questions about Eve, and hearing from everyone that they're so glad to be in Tiger's corporation.
Also, the name chosen was "LurkerZ".
One night I log in, and get a cryptic convo from a corpmate. He's talking in riddles or some nonesense, but I decypher that he's trying to tell me that Siplhe had gone rouge and was taking down a POS. Vent is full of yelling and Siplhe asking me to come help him at our POS in lowsec. I can see the losses in the corp sheet have him and Tyler, his alt, on them. So, not saying much of anything, I calmly start making the jumps to our lowsec POS, all the while stripping him and everyone else of POS roles and access. I get there, and promptly get my ship shot out, but not before setting the POS guns on him and his alt.
So, you'd think we'd learn from this, right? Listen to Josk's idea that he put out in the first place, interview people, do the whole quality>quantity?
Nope.
Over the next several weeks, Tiger and Emfive start a series of moves and rebranding of goals that drives out half of the corp. Everything is run through Vent, so if you don't hear it, there's no corp mail, no responses, nothing but more cryptic bullcrap. I piece together finally that we're moving from Black Rise over to the Obe area. And we're not running missions any more. Or mining. We're going to PvP!
Well, fine, if we were a tight-knit group of people who knew how to talk to one another. We are far from that, however.
After I move all my gear, about two weeks later I hear from another stranger in corp that we're joining an alliance. True to his word, the next night I log in and we're in an alliance. Moving again, to Geminate (oh god why).
NOW I start getting a few mails. At this point, I'm literally logging in at night and seeing Tiger Cub and maybe one or two other people. Of which, none of them say jack or crap the whole time until DT. I finally have a talk with our CEO and another guy, and talk goes to buying a faction POS and all the faction mods you can think of for it. I say sure thing, let me use my trade alt and get to work.

I do my homework, do some bidding, travel across Eve and get the best deals going for the laundry list I've been given. The total comes out to over 1.5bil, and I'm given about 350mil to cover the purchase until the next week. No problem, just don't forget to pay.
I contract the items, and send a nice Eve mail breaking down the cost, minus the payment the two guys have already given.
A week goes by. I've pre-positioned all my items again for the move and jump up to Geminate. I send out another Eve mail reminding them that I fronted the ISK, and need it back ASAP.
At this point I had some serious RL issues and couldn't come back online for a week. However, when I do, I still don't have the ISK. Tiger Cub, Emfive, and Captain Blaze are all online when I come on, and nobody is on Vent or responds to my convos. For all the bragging that Tiger and Co. do about how much ISK they have and, being the masters of their Eve game, I don't see what the hell is the problem paying me a "paltry" billion that I'm asking for.
I gave it another week, and after sending out Eve mail #fourty-six I quit the corp. Frustrated, I set up my own corp and proceed to just log in to change skills for a few weeks. Then, I decide to contact Silphe. I was curious about the whole rip off he pulled on the corp before, and figured if there was someone to know how to get at someone, he'd be it.
It was a hell of a surprise to then find out he had already done it! I talked with him a bit, and could not believe how bad he'd damaged them for a second time. Even better, the bull**** excuses I got for why I couldn't use the corp's cap module BPO's was redeemed when I saw he had yoinked them as well.
Tiger Cub then starts an Eve mail campaign against me to return the corp's shares. First, he just describes how to send them back (open wallet, go to shares, etc). Then he flat out demands I give them back. Then, it's going to be "voted back". I tell him sure, I'll give them back at a discounted rate of 85mil a share (I have 100).
So, for the tl;dr crowd:
Tiger Cub is a loudmouth douchenozzle who think's he knows everything about the game. Except how to not get ripped off. Oh, and you can do anything to someone through a corp vote, to include having CONCORD kill them once a day.
Emfive lets Tiger Cub run the corp as a de facto CEO, in between changing directions and goals every other week.
I can't say anything about Captain Blaze, because he sold his char and tra-la-la'd off into the sunset.
Silphe ripped off the same corp, twice, and I owe him a beer some day.
