Is there anyway to see combat probes on the Dscanner? I've gone through the Overview settings and can't seem to find anything. Excuse my igonorance if I'm missing something simple. Any help will be appreciated.

If the prober is good your chances in seeing combat probes are slim to none. With that said, make sure you have "Use Overview Settings" unchecked. Also, for better chances (although more painful) keep the scanning range to max distance and a 360-degree view. You'll usually pick up A LOT of trash along with the probes so you'll need to sort through the mess. I usually arrange the results by "Type" and quickly look under "C" for Combat Probes, "D", for Deep Space, and "S" for Sisters Combat Probes.

Thank you for the quick and complete reply. I understand and will follow your advice, but do mind explaining why unchecking active overview setting will allow me to see probes on the Dscanner while I can't seem to find any options in overview settings that allow me to see probes in the first place. Sorry for the grammatical clusterf@#% .

If you use the overview settings, you only see what your current overview setting allows you to see, for instance if you have your overview currently set to only show ships, npc's or planets, then that will act as a filter to your dscanner. Probes aren't shown on the overview at all so removing it as a filter will allow you to see anything that the dscanner can detect.

As you noticed, there is no way to see probes on the overview. But the Dscanner can detect more object types than the overview can (so it can show probes). When you check "use overview settings" on the Dscanner it ONLY shows the things you can see on your overview. So you have to uncheck it to see everything the Dscanner can detect.

scan probes don't show up on overview.
but they show up on dscan if you don't limit dscan to the objects that show up on your overview.

One tip that helps me when spamming the d-scan, you only need to check the results once. After that, all you need to look for is a change in the number of results, as represented by the scroll bar. If the bar shrinks, that means the scanner picked up something new and added it to the list, making the list longer. If you see the scroll bar change then you search through the list, otherwise you can just keep hitting the scan button.

Thanks for the tip! This is actually a nice "shortcut". Wish I would have thought of it .

keeping dscan at max range is ridiculous.
unless you're in ship with a huge sig radius, the prober will need to shrink his probes down to at least 4au before getting a warpable hit on you.
so set your dscan distance to at least 400mill km, will cut down on clutter. ♥

4AU is approx 600 mill km, 1AU = 150mil km

i'm quite aware of that fact. but probers are never going to put just the leading edge of the scan range on a signal. it will be well covered :) ♥

I fly a CS with a MWD in sleeper space, my sig radius blows up like you wouldn't believe.
That's generally why I keep the scan on max range.

Then you are lucky to have only encountered crap probers.

Also, I would like to know that I am in the process of BEING PROBED, and not when the prober is really close :p
