What was the logic in removing range scanning?

Derisor	Posted - 2004.11.26 10:22:00 - [1] Im just currious because it makes scanning a royal pain in a system. It also makes targeting annoying. Those little icons are hell to see sometimes. For people that use scanning as the primary mode of targeting and combat navigation, this is a significant annoyance. So was there a reason for this or was it just one of those things that "happen" ? --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one.

Ive launched the 2 au one x 3 and scanned at 1 au, located a shuttle that someone dumped and no distance is given, no option to warp to, Im well within probe range so what gives? Static Items are showing and I can warp to them ie a planet but this is the same as before!
