The royal navy was in disarray and sporting less than optimal tactics and technology the last time around and still managed to turn all the terrible losses around and kick the argentine's arse. With all the goodies they have nowadays it would be a slaughter unless argentina somehow happened to come aross some crazy black market weapons tech which tbh is not out of the realm of possibilitys. My money would still be on the new royal navy though. They invaded the islands last time because our military was under-funded and in bad shape, and the UK was pretty much a laughing stock because of it. They also had much shorter supply lines to the islands, and had time to dig in before our boys arrived. And we still beat them. That deserves a bit of respect. Nowadays, those islands are significantly more heavily fortified, and we've been upgrading our technology (for example, that shiny new HMS Daring and its Sea Vipers might come in handy against those Exocets or whatever the modern equivalent is). If their government has any sense at all, or any understanding of history, they won't try it. /british bluster ____________________

There is a simple formula to our current profit driven system, problems + scarcity = profit, that basically means that any problem solved equals less profit (how much profit would the Pharmacutical company's lose if there was a cure for HIV? the common cold? Tanks, firearms and missiles are a treatment to the problem, they have in some small part due to there own advancement reduced the chance of war but have come far from removing it, humanity will never find a solution to war within this system because there simply is no profit to be made from removing it, keeping people seperated via country, race, religion helps to solidify a constant stream of profit from war. Lastly even if in the past war has advanced technology, then it no longer needs to in the future, the truth is that no other method of human motivation has been tried since primitive times to motivate people other than monetarism and profiteering, if seperated we have achieved so much, imagine how much we could achieve united. ---------------------------------------------------------
