I tried out the snoop 3AU scanner drones today.
I launched them in the direction of a known ship location, and they didn't seem to fly any where. Is this normal? I thought they would head out in a straight line and then you could analyze the info.
Any help or suggestions as to how to use these would be great.

You drop 3 down in a triangular pattern around where you think the ship(s) are (i.e. planets/moons surrounding it that are within scanning range).
Then you select the probes from your scanner window and get them to start scanning - you'll be asked what you wish to search for.
After 5 mins, the results will come up at the bottom of your scanner window.

How close do you have to be to a moon to launch survey probes?
Seems like when you warp to a moon, you get dumped 5000 km from it.

Anywhere around the normal warp-in point was (when I tried it on Sisi a few days ago) fine. Unfortunatly I haven't tried it on Tranq yet, so I apologize if this isn't as reassuring as it could be. -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |
