Edited by: TimMc on 22/02/2010 11:53:02 It never got cleaned and our interest died. Not sure about the fish.
Edit: Actually I think I remember seeing devs playing games through that camera. I think they cleaned it at some point.

I think they moved the aquarium / got a new one a while back, so it's possible they decided not to install the webcam in the new one. -----

They moved the 20 foot+ long fish tank that took months to build and the one they had to restructure their building around? __________________

The glass dome that the webcam is in is currently completely covered in algae. I don't think anyone has ever gotten around to cleaning it. I think it's still live, but you can't really see anything.

I'm not really up to date on the mechanics of fishtanks so I can't answer that, but I assume that everything is in order since the water is quite clear and the fish look happy. At least they stare at me with googly-eyed confusion, which I assume passes for happy among fishkind.

As its a sea tank it will have something similar to this only scaled up quite a bit tucked away somewhere. Sea tanks are a total pain to keep though and after having one for 5 years I sold it all and just got a fresh water tank with lots of exotic plecos and assorted fresh water cichlids. Now I just rinse the filters out once a week and add in some true spring water to make up for evaporation. Simple and quite beautiful with lots of high quality plastic plants and no crappy high upkeep as the plecos scour everything down to the surface.

Has anyone submitted a petition to have the fish tank cleaned and the cam put back online?
Actually that might be kinda funny to do. I dont think the early morning GM's would appreciate a ticket saying "I cant see your fishtank through the cam, please clean it"

Get algae eater (if compatible) and that chem for tanks that slows / kills algae growth.

Generally speaking, if you're doing it right, algae is not a problem. Perhaps the lights stay on for far too long, the usual problem. I'm a former long time fish keeper and developed a general mistrust of chemical products. I don't even buy carbon for my filter,s nay, not even new filters, just clean the old ones occasionally in tank water, not tap, and you have a permanent biofilter capable of handling all the ammonia and nitrites in the water and you will rarely suffer algae blooms if you keep the lights to less than 8 hours and change a small percantage of the water every week or couple weeks to get rid of nitrates, a product algae and plantlife alike feed on but becomes slowly toxic to fish. > WHILE SIG<AWESOME DO LOOP there is no escape from my crappy sig. |

i think CCP if they get the fish-tank-cam up and running should put a remote controlled laser pointer on it :) so the DEV's know what we're looking at :3.

Dunno about the aquarium cam, still there is the Hekla Cam : http://www.ruv.is/hekla/ Maybe Icelanders or CCP can confirm Hekla is scheduled to erupt this year, IIRC.
Glad the cluster is in London. Techies as well ?
