I have now had numerous occurrences where cloaks have randomly deactivated. I have seen it happen anywhere from 30seconds after activation to a few minutes.
It has happened in a condor with prototype cloak and also a buzzard with covop cloak. In the case of the condor it was near a pos but over 10k away from the shield edge. It would allow me to recloak once delay timer was up but then it happened again a minute later and then probably 11-12k away.
In the buzzard I was over 350KM from the nearest object and was moving. I had the cloak enabled when I warped to that spot, it remained active I moved my other account's character through the gate to safety and then minimized the window to continue moving second account along through highsec. Then I hear the boom.
Now had I landed at my spot and remained there not moving I could've given this to the slightest of slight chances that someone decided to try to decloak a buzzard 400k off a gate with a machariel. However I was cloaked when I warped to the spot, and them moved from the original spot in a direction that there was no objects in making it a few decimal points short of impossible for someone to decloak me. And also, since i did observe this happen on my condor previous(at the time I figured it was an isolated incident as it was 1 character, same ship, and 1 minute apart) that pretty much rules out this not being the product of a bug involving cloaks.
I have also talked with a few others who have confirmed experiencing similar decloaks, just not at as vital a time that it cost a ship loss. If you have experienced this problem please add your details so GMs can have this looked at instead of spouting the usual "the logs dont see..." BS that they do. meanwhile I'm going to try to get a fraps of it not that they will consider that any sort of evidence

Can confirm that ships randomly decloak. Was waiting at a POS with my Alt in his CovOps Transport for the Tower to unanchor and my ship decloaked 2 times without anything being near.

Glad to hear I am not the only one. CCP refuses to believe there is an issue, they flat out denied my bug report stating no useful info was given. GM gives the usual "Logs dont show anything line" and tells me to file the bug report but that reimbursement is not possible. Its just a buzzard so I can move on but had it been one of my good ships I'd be pretty upset. I'm afraid to even undock in anything I cannot afford to lose due to a bug like this like the redeemer I just bought. Sure i would've lived if I wasnt afk but eve is about rolling with what you get after all. If anyone else reading this has had the problem please post, I dont even expect details but the more confirmation they get that this occurs the more likely they will care enough to look into it.

This happens to me as well, in recons and sb's. At first it seemed to happen entering or exiting warp, but it also happens at very random times out in the middle of nowhere.

Yes happenes to me in my Rapier, Cov. Ops Cloak.
REALLY not cool when you're 70k off an enemy pos, very expensive bug.

happens in my cheetah constantly.
Happened once in a wormhole and nearly got me dead.

wormholes odd things.
stay away if you want to be cloaked, 5k at least.
10k sound safe, but god not so close to the 2500m.

Tell me, what would happend if your client disconnected during that, oh in so safe with my cov-ob cloak off pos armed to the teeth?

That KB links to a freighter lost to fail-piloting and stupidity. He deserved to lose it. Losing a ship due to a failing game mechanic is quite different. This isn't about the minor isk loss of 40mil or whatever, its about getting CCP to acknowledge this bug exists and to fix it. If they want to make the cloak officially unstable that's fine, but it is not working as intended. But when this isn't just a fluke occurrence, then like hell i'm gonna undock in any high-end cloaky ship like my redeemer to only possibly lose it due to something that isnt my stupidity or even under my control.
Back on topic please keep posting if you have seen this bug, the more people that ccp sees encountering the problem the less likely they will keep ignoring it. |
