Apply same treatment to Moa plz. Also, to the SYS-K guy that likes asymetrical stuff: if I wanted to watch Dali art, I'd go to MoMA. I want symmetrical ships, dry and functional, not fancy.

Oh my GOD.
I liked the scorpion before but now it's just....wow. I like how it looks even very different from the other Caldari BS's, it fits the feel of it being a very new battleship design. I still can't get over how great the redesign is, looks like I'll be flying nothing but scorpions from now on.\

I too am sceptical about halving the diffuse texture res, however the NGS - PGS comparison images are quite convincing, so it may actually be the low-res mask map that was reducing the quality of the shaders.
CCP: Just another suggestion, make logo squares like on the Interbus shuttle. This will solve any mirrored logo issues like someone pointed out. Also it would create the option of having alliance logo's displayed on ships, which would be an awesome step towards "personalised" ships.
I do think the new Scorp model looks absolutely spectacular though, well done CCP.

I was sitting in one when I wrote that. For ships that are not designed for atmospheric flight there is no reason to be symmetrical. The new design looks like a toy, designed to look as much as a scorpion (the animal) as possible. That does not fit with the utilitarian technocratic culture of the Caldari, or at least it should not IMO. I do like the new texturing though, that looks pretty good.
Anyway I'd much rather have seen art department time spent to finally create models for missile launchers (and have the missiles come out of them) rather than redesign the scorp. Clearly CCP disagrees.

Looks great! Please for all that's holy, just, and everything that's good in the universe do the raven! Many missioner's have to hang their heads in shame as they use their overpriced non-symmetrical brick for beating lvl 4 missions. I just wish the Raven stats met with the looks. Get the same guy who did the Merlin or the drake, they have a good eye for design

I hope this fixes the Hyperion's shotty paint job. Increasing the sharpness of the Raven's textures would be nice as well.

You might appreciate it, but 99 other humans won't. It took long enough for CCP art department to move into the right direction (imo), making old asymetric designs a little bit more palatable to the eye.

Absolutely about damn time Nice redesign too! One thing i would like to add is that it does seem to have lost some of its industrial appearance...that perhaps has something to do with the high grade of "LOOK MA! I'M MADE OF PLASTIC" gloss and rounded shapes of something that used to be made up of squares and triangles. Little bit more use of steel paint would do the trick i think...
Ohh and previews are nice.. let's see a preview of all the ships you've done so far ___________

As a cynical graphics programmer I have to ask why you are omitting the Z channel from your normalmaps when you could store it in the blue channel for some added precision, and cheapen the decode by not requiring a per-pixel square root to calculate the initial Z value...

i liked the missing wing, I hope CCP doesn't go to crazy with redesigning the ships. I mean they are icons of EVE. When Trinity Launched and they changed some things here and there it was a bid deal, but tread carefully here CCP. I don't want to login in one day and all my ships look like the most aggressive death mobile drawings of that sci fi kid in the back of class....

The Gallente could make a giant green Marshmallow Man Dominix and it'd still function just as well.
I'm kinda dubious about a Badger, still. And... yes, lets not go too near the Drake either ( although if you squint hard with Dali glasses on, it's got a vague duck-ness to it ).

Very nice model CCP.
The only thing i would like to ask is that you will be remodelling all the ships take that chance to implement the missile launcher bays. The answer we always get was: It would require to change all the ship models in EvE, and that can't be done, NOW you are doing it, so for god's sake do the laucher bays. |

Okay: First of all, Thanks CCP for the updated graphics on the scorpion. I love it and maybe the ship will be seen for its worth now everyone loves the look. Scorpion is seen as the ship noone wants to fly. Strangely enough it has its nickname: Primairy... It is a good ship when you have the skills and knowledge how to fly with one...
Secondly: Will the people whining about lag, bugs, fixes and other stuff not related go back to their own topics so that the people that do bring constructive comments and such here can actually be read? You do realise that if CCP reads through this section they will probably not read the "FIX THIS! I AM ANGRY!! EMORAGE!!!" parts at all? They just want to know what we think about the redesign and will make notes about the people that aggree and disaggree.

unless the back of the model isn't textured?
You'd be surprised. The spec masks have a lot of detail in them at a glance, which drive additional layers of quality on top of what also looks like a much better normal map. Secondly, most eve ships drive their appearance with clever use of cube maps that in many scenarios, wash out any detail in the diffuse.
The diffuse drives the base but is no longer the bread and butter for quality.
