Read in this forum references to "the NPC Regions".
What are the NPC Regions? How do you find them?
Are they controlled by NPC's? Or, by the Alliances?
Thanks

the ones "controlled" by npcs, however they tend to be rather full of players who would love to kill (or dock up for the next week) a neutral.
venal-guristas, syndicate-serpentis, delve I think is part blood part player controlled. not sure about angel or sansha, but you can check on the map.

NPC 0.0 regions are whole parts of space where one of the pirate factions is sovereign. The way this manifests itself in-game for the average player is that such places usually have a lower security standing(between 0.1 and -1, the so-called "true" 0.0).
Note that a pirate faction may own an entire region, or parts of it, with the reset of the systems being claimable by players.
The stations there are NPC controlled, and belt rats tend to be fatter and with a slightly more increased chance of spawning an officer(not that the chance itself woulnd't be something like 1 in a thousand). The belts themselves have more expensive ores. And since it's 0.0 space without being controlled by a player alliance, it's as lawless as it gets.
Note: you can dock onto npc stations no matter your standing with the local rats. NPC spaces is also where one can get missions for pirate factions.

Pretty much what the othera said. And the regions are like this: sansha - stain angels - curse guristas - venal blood raiders - part of delve serpentis - part of fountain This areas have npc stations (anybody can dock), u can't take sov and they have npc agents (u can run missions for them)

In addition to this:
non-pirate factions. ORE - Outer Ring Intaki Syndicate - Syndicate Mordu's Legion - parts of Pure Blind Sisters of Eve - parts of Pure Blind Thukker Tribe - Great Wildlands SoCT - parts of Geminate
all I can think of atm.

Sorry to be so dense, but, what maps are you talking about that tell you if a particular system is "npc" controlled, or not? I am looking at the star map, for example, and do not see any special signs, for example, that identify a system as an "npc system".
How can you tell whether you will be allowed to dock at an "npc station" before you warp there, and possibly get blown up by some player corp controlling it?
If you are in Domain, for example, and wished to visit the npc regions, how could you figure out where to go?
If "parts" of Delve are npc controlled, which parts are those?
Please try to think like a newb, who cant find the manual chapter on "npc regions".
Thanks!

There's an option on the star map that lets you change the color of the stars from security status to who has sovereignty.

Have a look at the map settings window, under the starmap->stars tab. There is tons of info there.

When u are in space, try checking the upper right corner. It has "sovereignity" written in yellow, try clicking on it. Oh, and NPC stations are named after that npc corp (player stations are named by players). And just click show info on the station and see what corp owns it (npc or not).

Thanks for the help. Great forum.
I found all the NPC regions except for "Blood Raiders". Not listed in the sovereignty list of my star map.
Am I missing something?

Blood Raiders are in Delve. Once upon a time they used to be in Bleak Lands instead, but the Amarr Empire made sure that didn't last.

Delve, Curse, Stain and Fountain are now crawling with Sir Molle's Maggot Brigade.
Good luck getting anything done there.

^^This^^ Download Ombey's maps and print the ones of your immediate area and home base for easy reference. Also good for finding dead-end systems for mining off the beaten track, and dead-end low-sec systems if you fancy some pew-pew with the local crazies.
