Why do I need a HIC to tackle a cruiser in high-sec because a fail pilot has dropped 4 stabs into his low slots?
Nerf Stabs. That is all. |

You're moaning about not killing him and you're calling him the fail pilot?
Hmm, ok.

If they run more stabs you run more points. Multiple stabs severely affect a ships ability to fight. Multiple points do not.

Edited by: Marko Riva on 02/03/2010 15:16:58 If he got what he wanted and you didn't get what you want, how is he the fail one? Choosing to run (with WCS if neccesary) is a viable option, I don't think there's some sort of "this module is in game but people are going to start crying if they see them, so to keep the carebears happy please don't use them" label.
His strategy worked, yours didn't. Better luck next time.

I keep a shadow serpentis scram in my hanger for people who are stabbed to the hilt. If you fit two you can get 6 points out of two mids, which is enough to catch anything except a smartbomb BS. And if they have 4 stabs they'll be dead before they can even lock you.

This is my only point. <--- get it?
Seriously though. Recently comments were made to the effect: oh plz buff stabs cuz HICs can infinipoint in hic-sec. Well, if dudes didn't quad-stab cruisers, there would be no need for ppl like me to go get my Onyx and I could just use my Crow.
I mean, so I get some corp-mates to help out right? Now we're taunted in local for blobbing. C'mon.
Maybe limit the number of stabs by hull size or something. Or give inties the ability to infini-point?

This is already in partial effect... hull size, race, and ship class / role define low slots... which in turn defines wcs capacity. Larger ship classes have more low slots but also more mass / less maneuverability, which in turn means more time to apply more points.
Wcs isnt the problem. Your choice of tactics vs targets is the problem.

As Kessiaan points out you don't need a HIC to catch stuff in hisec; two +3 faction scrams on a gallente recon and you are golden.

Edited by: Hallax on 03/03/2010 21:05:15 So basically you deserve a KM for every ship you happen to scram? If he had 4 stabs like you say, then he definitely was ready to gtho. There has to be an out from being pointed. His out? Being able to escape at the expense of probably zero combat potential.
50% reduction in range seems like one heck of a nerf to me.

Dude (as pirate)i hate stabs and i to want them gone...
Realy though! They just **** up my game play tbh. For those who dont want to fight or get exploded by me while mining or plexing. They are of use to those pilots.
I just have to adapt. I dunno! Maybe bring 2 scrams?

Freedom goes both ways. You have ways to keep the target from running, the target have ways to counter that. Otherwise, it would be "unfair" that targets have ways to repair the damage that you have done unto them, guess you want boosters and reppers to only function when guns are not shooting?
Or just go with the easy solution, remove stabs and scrams all togeather.

Again, with some seriousness though. People can't complain about HICs in high sec if (at the same time) fitting n stabs is considered a legit warfare tactic (piracy is not a factor here)....sry to deny you the pirate QQs.

I totally agree with the OP. All tactics in game that effectively counter other tactics with the only cost being crippling the ship for doing anything else, utilizing only 4 modules, and being beatable itself through the use of only 2 other known tactics (more points and HICs) is crazy and should be removed from the game. Why should you be bothered to plan in advance and adjust your fitting just because some butthole carebear was thinking ahead and predicted exactly what you were going to do? Crazy.
EVE should be reduced to the simple mechanic that whoever types "Pirate" in local first immediately blows up all ships on grid, and whoever types "Carebear" first gets made invulnerable and has 1 bil isk spawned in their wallet along with ore in their hangar. Its the only sensible way to get these dastardly "tactics", "strategy", and "effort" out of the game. "Aghast the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is." |

Um...as has already been said fit more scramblers. Sure, only a HIC can infini-point but any ship with 4 or more mid-slots (3 if you use faction scrams) can tackle anything but capitals and the most stable of the stable battleships. Doesn't even need to be expensive. Merlin with 4 mid-slots, space for 4 scrams. You'll pin anything except Battleships with 8 lows (I've checked, the only ship you couldn't tackle would be an Armageddon). Yes you've sacrificed your own tanking ability but so has the other guy and you don't suffer the same locking range/time penalty (Battleship will take over a minute to lock you) so your mates can pile in and finish up before he finds a target. If someone specialises their fit to accomplish a goal (i.e. running away), it stands to reason that in turn you must specialise your own fit to prevent them from completing that goal (mulitple scrams to stop them running).
