Edited by: Kastoli on 03/03/2010 13:03:15 I've recently acquired a mammoth and i'm going to be using it as a hauler for one of my corps smaller mining operations. I couldn't really see the need for anything other than cargo expanders as I'm new to the game, its not going to be in any danger of player pirates as it won't be leaving 0.6 sec space for a while.
4x Expanded Cargohold II (Low Slots) 27.5% Cargo Capacity Bonus Each 3x Medium Cargohold Optimization I (Rigs) 15% Cargo Capacity Bonus Each 5625 * 1.275 * 1.275 * 1.275 * 1.275 * 1.15 * 1.15 * 1.15 Ending up with a cargo capacity of 19,650m3 without housing containers, I would assume... Not knowing exactly how, or when the 5% cargo capacity role bonus is applied.
Would I be in need of anything else? would speed be a factor to think about at all?

Fitting some tank modules is never a bad idea, no matter where you are. Other then that i am not sure what this topic is about, quite obviously that you squeezed every bit of cargo capacity you can from your mammoth :)

For hisec T1 Industrial hauling, just fit it for max cargo. If you keep total in the hull less than 50 - 100M, then you ::should:: not be ganked. If you go more than 100M, recommend a Transport ship or fitting a decent tank to the industrial. (Although, from my experience, even a decent tank will not save you from a gank in a T1 Indy.) Most important thing in a T1 Indy, always warp to 0, autopilot as little as possible. -----------------------------------

Yeah, I've been looking around at the different fitting while i've been mining... I've just got little to no experience actually playing.
I'de assume player pirates wouldn't be all too much of a problem in 0.6 space asn concord will still intervene untill 0.5, would just some basic shield tank fittings be sufficiet tank for the NPC pirates incase there is nobody around?
As to the purpose of the thread, I was more so wondering if the +Cargo -Speed would effect me too much as I doesn't effect warp speed I had doubted it would personally, but I thought i'de ask anyway.

If a pirate wants your cargo they will kill your T1 indy in one shot before concord has a chance to arrive, especially in .5 and .6 space where concord response is the slowest. Your best defense is to just keep your hauling value low enough that it's not worth the :effort:

With Minmatar Industrial at lvl 4, this should let you swallow 9 Giant Secure Cans. =35k m3 ore.
At least thats what I get for EFT'ing at wrk. Never did rig anyone of my Mammoth's though.
Edit: Oh, and yeah, max velocity while hauling for miners is of lesser importance. The only thing of importance is how much cargo you can run in one swoop.

For low sec, use T2 transport ship that can warp cloaked. It's what i use to move billions from buy orders (i trade).

You can find out your capacities for a given hauler and its equipment. Two pencils, sharpened to a razor-like point, are my only defense. |

2 invulns, 1 EM hardener, 2 medium shield extenders. Whatever in the rest.
This might save you from a suicide gank, or it might not... but it's the best you can hope for.
edit: and just to remind you, there is still no divider between posts and sigs.

Your chances of being ganked depend on the cargo you carry. I've tried sticking to the 100M rule but it has a tendency not to work out very well. My Bestower got ganked recently in Sobaseki with probably 100M worth of goods inside as I was aligning to warp (yes, should have used the cloak MWD, I know). The problem? My cargo was 1-2 t3 subsystems (the ones in 20-30m price range) and probably 40-50 mil in tags. I imagine the scanner saw that, went "omg! t3! tags!" and I went poof.
So...even if you think you'll never get ganked, you probably will and you'll be kicking yourself. So instead of fitting for max cargo you might want to fit for optimal cargo capacity with prop mods. The pitiful tank you can mount on your indy will not save you (and if you mount big tank you lose capacity anyway). Learn the mwd cloak warp and use it when you haul cargo.

Never did rig anyone of my Mammoth's though.
.
I rigged mine with large rigs before different rig sizes were introduced. Made my own rigs, of course, but looking back a real waste of Alloyed Tritanium Bars.
