I've been playing (you could call it that) for the last week or so and by that I mean I have almost all y learning skills to IV and mechanic is otw to V. I want to fly an abaddon short term and a paladin long term. I have the build loadout for an abaddon but that doesn't count all the supporting skills I need to get up like engineering and such.. things to increase armor and increase cap and cap recharge and all that jazz. I've read a lot but just having a hard time putting things together.
Could someone please tell me or share a skill plan for a newbie shooting straight to an effective abbadon lvl 4 mission runner. There are corps out there with instant access to lvl 4's so I want to get an abaddon properly skilled and fit in as little time as possible with as little wasted skillpoints as possible.
thanks very much!

Because EVEmon and Battleclinic loadouts account for the supporting skills that aren't required for items or ships but are absolutely needed to be able to actually fit them and run them for any extended period, right?
Next time actually read the thread and try to add something of value and substance instead of trying to be a cute little poster. I've at least done my homework on the fits there are just somethings that aren't shown or discussed but are imperative to the builds.

The guy gave you the best answer there is , and clearly more than you deserve.
You say you've done your homework , but you want someone to give you "their " idea of whats needed. Then you probly wouldnt follow it anyway
If your going to sponge in on ppl's lvl 4's with a 30 day old Abaddon , ask THEM what you need. Or quit being rude here.

Are you intentionally being a daft, arrogant ass? I'm not doing anything with a 30 day old abaddon. That's what you assumed and implied, even though I said I want to be able to do it efficiently with out wasted skill points. I have an EVEmon build already, witha good battleclinic load out that I am following. For the third time now I will ask what supporting skills need to be trained up that are not mentioned in either EVEMon or Battleclinic. neither of these things tell you how much of which supporting skills you need to get and why you need to get them. This is why I am asking what I need to train and if someone has a skill plan for these skills I would be appreciated.
I DO NOT need a skill plan to fly an abaddon. I already have one of those. I could be flying an abaddon in 6 days but that'd be stupid since I can't fit it. The fitting will take 125 days according to EVEmon, but just because I have the required skills to fit the recommended items doesn't mean I can because of insufficient grid or cpu usage. I know I need Some Electronic skills to V and I need engineering and Mechanic and Repair Systems to V and IV respectably.
Again, I would like to know what supporting electronic/engineering/mechanic skills I need to go along with the rest of the build that EVEmon nor Battleclinic explains to a newbie like me that you need to further fly and fit/equip this ship properly. Like I said, I HAVE done my homework, even though I've had to scan through countless posts made by asses such as yourself Raven. You didn't read the thread enough to see that I already have a skill plan and I didn't need the skills for the ship or fitting themselves but the SUPPORTING skills that ARE NOT TALKED ABOUT on Evemon or Battleclinic. The only reason why I had any idea baout the supporting skills I HAVE listed is because I noticed remarks made about them on Battleclinic loadouts when folks would make mention they need Energy grid upgrades V or energy management V.
Raven feel free to not respond again since you clearly aren't looking to be helpful. Anyone else who understand that I do not need a skill pla fed to me and that I understand the basics and just need a little help understanding the rest of the supporting skills so I can plug them in to EVEmon I would greatly appreciate your comments and info. I've got all learning skills to IV now, basic and advanced.. bought a set of +3implants and have mechanic almost to V. That's as far as I have gotten at this point. Like I have said repeatedly now, I have done my homework, there are just a few things I am missing and don't understand or know what to look for and this is what I am asking for help on.

That's incredibly amusing given that having trained these skills and planned out a skill and fitting on Evemon, these learning skills, being recommended, have shaved off nearly 2.5weeks of training time. Thanks again for again showing me how useless the eve forum community is when it comes to providing newbies with actual help. I'll stick to the help channel, where there are ignorant pricks certainly, but they are far less common.

Actually , you are clearly the daft , arrogant ass here.
I was just being blunt , and yes it was intentional .
On a helpful note : I recomend Evemon as a study source for skill training. It has all the skills and their descriptions clearly listed .
Is that better ? ( I have all day, if you need me to post in capitals or different phrasing )

Bunch of *******s here today it seems. You want to bring up to V: Electronics, Targetting, Multitasking, Energy Management, Energy System Operations, Energy grid Upgrades, Long Range Targetting (this could be user preference of course), definitely Hull Upgrades to V for the T2 hardeners as the battleclinic fits recommend, Controlled Bursts, Traj. Analysis, Motion Prediction... those are just a few that I can think of off the top my head that aren't noticed in Evemon but I have them trained at teh recommendation of folks in years past (i've been playing since 2005 but only have 10.5m sp ;p I haven't played alot between here and now). If somethign I've mentioned is offbase or I missed something I'm sure someone else could suggest it or correct me :) Hope that helps some anyways. I'm fitting an abaddon myself (posted on ships and modules recently) and will be in a t2 fit abaddon in the next month i hope!
good luck.

lol?
Seriously, what you want is:
Fitting skills: Electronics V for CPU Engineering V for Powergrid Weapon Upgrades V for CPU (important since that unlocks Advanced Weapon Upgrades (for more powergrid))
Cap skills: An abaddon is probably the most cap depended bs, so you'll really want: Energy Management V Energy Systems Operations V Controlled Bursts IV (V when you got time)
Tanking: Hull Upgrades V (IV might do, but T2 hardeners really means a lot)
Gunnery: Gunnery V Motion Prediction IV (V when you got time) Trajectory Analysis 0 (Seriously this is probably one of the worst skills if you're using lasers, just a complete waste of time)
Targeting and long range targeting are nice to have, but it's more for convenience since an abaddon has a base targeting range of 80km, which is longer than your guns can fire anyway...

To make an abby worth flying (PvP or PvE):
Amarr Battleship 4 or 5 (5 preferred, 4 minimum)
Electronics 5 Engineering 5 Weapon Upgrades 5 Advanced Weapon Upgrades 4 or 5 (doesn't matter what ship you are training for, get these)
Repair Systems 5 (PvE) Hull Upgrades 5 Mechanic 5 Armor Compensation Skills to 4 Armor Rigging 4 (PvP/PvE. Unlikely you will waste a billion getting t2 rigs but the skill reduces the speed penalty so its probably worth getting)
Energy Systems Operation 5 Energy Management 5 Energy Grid Upgrades 5 (PvP, heavy cap boosters come in handy with a lot of Abby fits)
Large Energy Turret 5 Large Pulse/Beam Spec 4 or 5 (5 preferred, 4 minimum) Sharpshooter/Motion Prediction 5 (needed for the above) Trajectory Analysis 5 (Laser tracking is awful, this really helps) Controlled Bursts 5 (PvP and PvE, Abby doesnt get a bonus to cap use, so this is pretty vital) All other gun supports to 4 (initially, 5 when you have time)
Long range targeting 5 Signature Analysis 5 Targeting 5 (targeting skills are basics for any ship really, if you dont have them by the time you are in a BS, ur doin it wrong)
Drones 5 Scout Drones 5 [race of your choice] Drone Spec 4 Heavy Drones 5 All other drone supports (especially Drone interfacing and Combat drone operation) to 4
In short, an Abby isn't a trivial thing to train into. To make it worthwhile, these are the absolute basics. ---------- Sig Page 1 Snipah YOU CANT MINE SO YOU KILL |

What does heavy cap boosters have to do with the energy grid upgrades skill?

ahem, it increases falloff by 5% per level. level 4 should be sufficient for amarr ships.

Take a look at the certificate planner (both in game and in Eve Mon). Do the Core certificates to Standard (Advanced and Elite later on when you have a chance) and the certs for turret control and EM weapons. I'm probably missing a few, but the certs will tell you what you need to train, and to what level. www.johnkimbler.com |

For the moment may I suggest getting the aforementioned skills to level IV before going to V as some of those have a hella long training time in which time you could have trained up some other skills to level IV.
Example, with my current attribute layout I'm training Shield Management to V, its got 15days or so left on it and thats with 11% done already. In that time, if I had anything else to train that was needed, I could have got about 8 other skills to level IV, giving you more benefit for your time.

Edited by: Nico Terces on 04/03/2010 15:58:13 For missioning, you can split up skills in different classes. You have skills which you need for optimal mission speed, you have skills which you need to afk tank. The only skills you really need are core skills. If you start missioning I suggest you don't start missioning with vanilla skills, but start with the bare essentials, so you actually respect vanilla setups because you understand why they work. Anyway on to the skills.
Threads above have already mentioned this basically, but what you really need before you start lvl 4's are:
Electronics 5 Engineering 5 Targeting 4 Hull upgrades 5 Energy Systems operation 5 Energy Management 4 Racial Battleship 4 Large Energy turret 4 Repair systems 4 Jury Rigging 1 Drones 5 Scout drone operation 1
Everything else is novelty, but this list basically really are the bare essential. Once you start doing missions, check: http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports
This site tells you what resistances to equip and how the mission aggro works. Do not expect to be king of the hill with these skills, and you probably will have cap and dps problems, while you probably also will have tanking problems due to the cap. From this point on decide what you need most. Do you need more damage? Train for tech 2 energy guns and tech 2 drones with Drone Interfacing 5. Do you need more cap? Don't immediately go for armor repair systems and Rapid firing 5, but get energy management 5 + controlled bursts to lvl 4.
Just go out and have fun. You might die a few times, but at least you will learn what the hell you're doing. Once you find yourself failing at certain areas, ask others what they're doing different and learn on the go.

You are correct that Trajectory Analysis primarily increases falloff, but it's also a prerequisite skill for T2 tracking computers. So it does have *something* to do with tracking... if a tracking computer is part of your fit.

I like it when people use posting alts... don't you, Wikis?
I'm still not sure what the OP's problem is. He says that he knows that he needs to improve Engineering skills "to increase armor and increase cap and cap recharge and all that jazz." It would also stand to reason that he would know the importance of Gunnery skills. And Navigation skills. Etc.
You know what? EVEMon tells you what those specific skills are.
And had the OP really done his homework, he'd know that by importing the fit into EFT and then right-clicking on each module, he'd get a pop-up of all the skills that effect that particular module, and so he'd know which skills to improve.

Maybe you didn't read the posts I made reiterating the same thing over and over again. I knew the basics but at the same time I knew there were things that were important that I was still missing. How would I know all the things EVEmon does without accidentally stumbling on them? Since this post was made, I got much more helpful information in the rookie and help channels in game where people explained how to use Evemon to find out specifics that weren't required to fit an item or fly a ship but WERE required to fit or fly it effectively or without overloading the powergrid or cpu panel.
I did my homework. You were a ****/ass/whatever you want to callyourself, as well as a few other posters. New people to this game cannot be expected to know what every 3rd party prog they need to download or read on is or how to operate them to get the fullest of their helpful potential. That's why people ask questions... to understand things better.
Like I said, since the posting of this thread, I got much more helpful info in the rookie channel and help channels in game. ****s in there are few and far between where as ****s on the forum are in a surplus. So yea, thanks for not a damn bit of help aside from your short and/or snide remarks.
By the way, no one ever made mention of EFT and I have no idea what EFT does, so once again instead of being an arrogant ass assuming all newbs should know what these acronyms are, maybe you could actually post helpful information instead of assuming every newbie should know what every little thing means when you post it.

Go into evemon and read every skill available, you should with a reasonable degree be able to figure out what will help your baddon.. cap/lasers/armor skills mostly, although there are plenty more that will help. If your still looking for one of those corps that has access to level 4's then msg me in game and we can get you started building standings for level 4's and help with fits until you get to your baddon.

Emorage isn't going to help you.
People have stated it already, Large Energy Turret to IV, Skills to fit t2 active tanking mods (Repair Systems V, Mechanic V, Hull Upgrades IV). Drones to V. The range/tracking/RoF gunnery support skills to IV or V. Weapon Upgrades, AWU. Etc.
You asked for help. People said EvEMon and EFT. Getting mad and spewing profanities (which they cant even read), wont help. EvEMon and EFT are fine tools and right clicking a module in EFT and going to the section that allows you to change relevant skills is another GREAT way of finding out what you want to train. Or alternatively, go to the item browser in EvEMon and make a plan for the things you want to fit on the ship.
Now stop being a giant phallus and read.

Bees Knees. Ha, that's fockin priceless.
Now I hope you know that there is a difference between forums and a deticated help channel. I sure as hell don't see "Help" written over these forums.
Also if you actually want help then be a bit more positive and don't start going around like you're the ****.

LOL, what an utter tool. I don't need your help any longer. People who were actually helpful gave me their assistance. There are no differences in the help channels and forums. At all. People who WANTED to help were able to do so. People who wanted to troll or be an ass did so. I'm over looking to these forums for assistance or help.. I've learned that the help channel gives much better info and results with a much lower chance of running in to a **** or five such as yourself and the other posters.
As for the idiots who want to hunt me down, good luck, that's cool. I'm a total push over. You can tell. I'll run to the nearest docking station for sure when I see your name. Uh huh. Right.

Brutalix, I don't think you really understand what is going on. You ask about making a skillplan and people point you towards Evemon. Now you do not like the fact that some people didnt write minute by minute stories with full explanations attached, so you start dissing everyone who responds.
Now this is all fine, but you keep returning to this thread about how everyone did not help you. Some people wrote pretty decent pieces of advise, but not a word of thanks to any of them. Now you start raving about how you're not a wimp, and that people should try and hunt you down because you will make them pay with Analytical Mind lvl 4!
When some people in here want to kill your character, it happens. It won't happen because everyone in this thread was out to give you bad avise, it will happen because you're behaving like an ingrateful w*nker. One piece of advise, if you know that certain individuals want to shoot you, do dock. If I'd want to shoot your skull through your kestral, it will happen. All it needs is a covops scanner and a small suicide gang. My loss would be a few mil which I don't care about, your loss would be not being able to understand why it happened.
Now I'm not evil enough to get a gang to hunt you down repeatedly. I'm not a pvp'er. However, some people actually do like killing people like you. I like that these people exist, because I think it's fun when someone like you gets shot. That's why I read c&p every day. Just to get a laugh out of someone who got his ass handed to him because he behaves like a total tosser. Anyway, if u want to get pro at an abbadon, just get all your support skills to lvl 5 and get tech 2 lasers. The best tank would be honour tank, but as you havent got a lot of honour, I suppose fitting a damagecontrol would do the trick. Gives you 60% hulltank, enjoy!

Originally by: Brutalix Legend To those that took the time to respond without being an ass, thanks very much. I had 3-4 of the skills already but I see I missed a few and have since incorporated them in to the new skill plan.

What's that? You continue to show how people can't read at all and just resort to constant trolling? Awesome! I fully understand now.
As for the rest of your gibberish, there isn't anything to say. I played Ultima Online for years from it's release to its death with the release of T2A. Eve has nothing on that when it comes to grief and pvp, however it IS the only thing on the market that provides a similar effect. people threatening to kill me or to cause me loss of pixels is hardly a worry at all. If people get so seriously concerned over pixels, then they deserve to be chain podded for being so daft.
50mil for the first person who finds me and pops me and is able to provide proof of such a deed. <-- this is how much I care about the possibility of losing pixels.. I just don't.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually came to that conclusion on my own with some more help channel talk in game and have decided to go with a dominix drone setup. This will let me get the core skills most ships need regardless of race and let me get my drone skills up as well and be able to function earlier for less. Once I have those skills tuned a bit towards perfect, then I'll start to branch out more and look at some of those cross faction battleships. From what I gather, the kronos isn't a real pleasure to compliment all the drone skills but it is such an incredibly badassed looking ship.. I may shoot for it just because of its looks alone. I think that's a marauder.. the fit that I came up with will take me about a years (a little over at 400ish days) time, which I mentioned above, I purchased a years worth of play time.. the Kronos was the main reason behind that

Pray tell why you train for T2 heavy drones in a ship that can launch a maximum of two? I'd say heavy drones are a complete and utter waste for the Abaddon. Maybe a sound investment for a mission Armageddon, but even then I'd probably go with Sentries first. ---- The Demigodess with a Conscience - An EVE IC Blog

Given the OP's original request EFT would be far more useful as it would allow him to change skill levels and see what the effects are.
Evemon literally just tells you what skills are needed to use something with no extra info which is vital.
That you defend you're idiotic post shows that if anything the OP is already less of a noob than you.
To OP: Whatever else you do get Drones and Scout drones to V, Combat drones to IV and drone interfacing and all the other drone supports + t2 Specs to 3 before you even think of going into an L4 or you will lose your ship to a scramming elite frigate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- you seem determined to turn it into ******* Hollyoaks for neckbeards. |

You idiots really like to stick together, don't ya? The OP couldn't have been a waste of time since there were a few folks who gave me some great information and having since made this thread and read some other threads in the meantime.. i came to a new path I wanted to take and this path resulted in me purchasing a years worth of game time. So yes, I guess CCP(creators of the game yes?) would find my post a waste of time since between it and a few other folks it helped me decide to buy a years worth of gaming time to meet a goal of flying a specific ship, even if different from the ship I originally inquired about.
You trolls/tools need to get on with your lives. There were a few folks who got the info to me that I requested. There were even more trolls with the inability to either read or comprehend what they were reading who continued to troll this thread onward past the point of usefulness, though there have been a few more posters with helpful suggestions since.

Hello, i am an Amarr BS Pilot.
Just some suggestions. For sure, the Abbadon is a great ship, i am flying it too. I started this game also somewhen without having a plan nor an idea about what i wanted to do. I guess, my char is the wrong for what i did. But dont worry, happens to the most, and at the end it does not matter at all.
I find your plan very challenging, BUT: Dont go directly for the idea to fly a badon as soon as possibole, because most probably, you will be loosing it. I would honestly recommend to skill up slowly. It is easy to become a BS pilot, but to survive a L4 mission does not only require to fly a BS, but to maintain it, and having the skills to survive a massive attack, quite no matter what ammo the enemy uses.
I recommend that before you plan what to fly, you choose your profession. Being a L4 Mission runner is not a profession. It is something you can do, or cant do. As difficult (i guess for the most of us) it is, choose an end target. What is you plan? Becoming a Capital Pilot with tanking abilities? Or an Interceptor Pilot with tackling and electronic warfare?
I can fly badon, i can fly L4s solo easily. But it wasnt like that always. It strongly depends on the skills. From my experience: i started with rushing to BS. I could fly it, and then i was kinda stunned. I barely could fly L2s (ship restrictions), L3s were kinda nice, but there are some, well, ouch missions. To talk about L4s, some will work. But the most profitable ones were impossible. Why? My tanking skills were not in the required levels.
I recommend to raise first Energy skills. The more the better. Amarr ships have the best capacitor of all. The more systems u use, the more energy is drained. the better your recharging rate is, the longer you can stay in a fight. Being stable when all systems are up and running is the most important thing for a BS pilot.
Mechanics. Means all kind of stuff in Mechanics. As Badon u are bound to be able to tank with your armor. Forget shields. Kinda waste. Armor, resistance and ability to repair yourself (while having the capacitor stable) is the target for you. 2 reppers running, on average 75% resist and 7 guns firing while having cap stable. Then L4s are good for making money.
Gunnery skills. the more the better. Raise assistant skills like Surgeon strikes, sharp shooting before raising the gun skills. The more damage you cause, the shorter the fight. But expect this as as a long term target. Gunnery V, small V, med 4 or V and large minimum IV is strongly recommended.
Now to the big problem of the badon. Short distance, fast and small frigs. Not that they could ever kill you when mechanic and energy skills are high enough. But it costs lots of time to get out and back to kill them at a greater distance. It becomes problematic when the enemy doesnt let you warp out and only frigs are on you at low distance.
Some bring in the Missile skills here. Some recommend smart bombs. And the most swear on drones. Few have small guns ready. I skilled all of them. I would say, drones are the best. Time showed the drone skills are changed that often by CCP also. Though when u loose many, it becomes kinda expensive, decreasing your income a bit.
and last: bring up salvage. This is the true cash behind the L4s. Bounty and loot are the bread, salvage is the butter on it. But soon enough you willbring up a second char, most probably an industry char, who flies an orca and can tractor and salvage :)
All i can say. Cheers. Have fun. -- Honker:"Damn! Ok, I'll go and loot my wife now..." -- Bearhug:"Hey all. Whatcha doin?" Steve:"licking ass in a geddon in AE4... Bearhug:"Nice typo, Steve!" |

Maybe the OP could have asked the question better, such as
Can anyone recommend the essential supporting skills that would be useful for me to run L4's in an Abaddon, I know evemon gives me the skills needed to fly them, and to fit them, but it doesn't give me the support skills.
Evemon is great but it is only 1 part of the solution, Eve Fitting Tool is also very useful as has been suggested, you right click the module and show affecting skill.
One thing I've learned is people can be very useful on the forum, and people can be a self opinionated muppets, don't get involved in slagging matches with people, if someone doesn't like the way the post was written then take from that what you can, name calling gets you nowhere in eve, apart from flamesville and eventually the 'click' as the mod locks the thread.
So very very true

LOL! I smack talked for hours? I saw I was wardecced, added you to my friends list so I could see when you were on. Saw you were on, then saw you in local. I let you know that I just log in to change skills every so often, so camping me was a futile exercise if you were trying to gain something from it. You then dropped your corp 2 days later and joined another corp. You seem to have a history of making shell corps to wardec people with then leave them shortly after.
I'm not at the zoars station but at a new lvl IV one in ashokan I think? Feel free to come and 'camp' me some more Like I said. I only ever log in to adjust the skill queue as needed or get standing rewards from people willing to let me pay for some lvl 4 standing mission runs.
You've got more hot air than I.
ps: You did say a word or two actually. The only time I spoke is when I realized you were actually there in the system active and some fellow was selling a drake and you said you would buy it. He then went on for the next 5 minutes (maybe more) trying to sale ships that he made from his own minerals, he claimed. This is when I made the comment that you'll be camping awhile as I just got on to skill change. I have a soon to be 3 year old so staying in front of the PC for that amount of time.. well it just isn't possible so maybe you mistook my 5 minutes of talk as hours on end after I was silent for the rest of the day,(if I was still logged in that is):) My memory is spot on for something that happened at most 2-3 weeks ago. Seems yours is not.
