Hi all I have some issues I would like sorted out. Basically I fit a Stealth Bomber with a Covert Ops Cloaking Device II and jump into a system that has many Tech II large bubbles on the gate with lots of ships and stuff in and around the gate.
After jumping into system I will sit for a bit, survey the best route out of the bubble.
But I have found that if I move towards where two bubbles intersect my ship decloaks. Well I believe this is what is happening because I decloak and am not near anything.
So if anyone can confirm whether this is correct I would be happy to know.
The reason I ask this is because I am confused on why my Buzzard does not get decloaked if I pass through two intersecting bubbles however on a few occassions this happens to me in a Manticore.
More questions to follow.
thanks Xain

You do know that you have to move so you can break the gate cloak before you can activate your covops cloak, yes? And that the gate cloak disappears after 60 seconds? ---

Hi Horchan Yes I do know that. I sit for a bit, move and cloak at same time. Yet as I go through where two bubbles intersect I get decloaked?
Is this normal gameplay?

No.
I would just like to know if the bubble can decloak you if you get close to its edge or it is intersecting with another bubble.
Thanks

Do you have biomasses on overview? Those pesky meat popsicles will decloak you, and there's heaps of them floating around in nullsec from all the fighting.

Bubbles or even overlapping bubbles cannot decloak you. It has to be something that you aren't seeing in your overview.

possible there was a corpse there, just anchor 2 bubbles and try to re-create the effect

Ok then - I will do that. And no I dont have corpses on my overview so I will do that to.
So are you saying that the edge of a bubble cannot decloak?
I understand the middle of it can.

sounds like a corpse decloaked you tbh, and yes the bubble can decloak you if your near the center of it, up to 2000 meter of the mobile warp scrambler module itself.

thread hijack You can't cloak if being targeted - does that apply when someone is in process of target-locking me (yellow blinking if i'm correct) or when an actual target lock has been made?

Yellow = Target lock aquired, no offensive module use Red = Offensive module use (Weapons, EW)
During the locking time you can see nothing on your overview.

Have an overview setting that shows EVERYTHING and call it "oh****" or something, set your "keep at range" to a nice number. In times of projectile faeces switch to that overview and navigate through the crap. If stuff went really wrong click the nearest/most dangerous thing on it and click "keep at range" while trying to cloak again.

A friend of mine claimed he got decloked whilst in a bubble, he claims he had nothing near him at the time may be this is yet more game glitches.
A long time ago I had the experiance of my ship being cloaked on my screen but visable to the gate campers and got popped. I petitioned it at the time and got the usual bums rush answer from the devs who lets face it are to lazy to roll out of bed in the mornings.

I dont think that is correct. You overview will blink yellow when you are being targgeted (but not locked) check it out in game try and lock your cyno frigate with your carrier alt while dual accounting. I would also like an asnwer to that original question about if you can cloak while being locked, although I think I know the answer, which is no.

yellow=locked=targeted red=aggression
The act of targeting itself (the time it takes to target) does NOT show in any way, only the result; targeted. Back to the OP; you can't cloak when you are targeted but you can AS people try to target you.

Jesus christ, not this argument again (this has been going on for over half a decade - I have no idea or clue why people are still so braindead about it).
If you are BEING targetted (i.e. the sound that goes bzzt bzzt bzzt with the countdown) then the target doesn't know it.
Once they ARE targetted but no OFFENSIVE stuff is happening, it's a yellow box.
Once they ARE targetted AND OFFENSIVE stuff is happening, it's a red box.
It's ever so simple. -- Ralara's banned again so this is my alt :p |

There are many things that are not on your overview and are not easily visible.
Armor maintenance bots for example - they are extremely fast, orbit at a quite far away orbit and by normal overview - are off. Also many people have drone models off - that way you not only don't see them normally, but also don't see them on overview. One can launch them on to a bubble in fact increasing the decloack range of it by the 1k or so that the orbit is. Or they can be assigned to an orbiting interceptor, making a huge flare of drones behind, a good two or three pilots can easily cover an entire gate with them.

They do. A corpmate of mine got popped because of landing on the edge of a bubble next to one.
Drones also decloak. You can also be decloaked if someone warps off in the exact direction you are sitting and they are close to you. It's chance-based, but I've been decloaked multiple times because of it. By the way, this is my signature.

AFAIK, bio mass doesn't bump any more, but it still decloaks. Originally by: coeira surely thats an exploit just as sure as dumping jet cans round a gate is.
The exploit is not dumping a few dozen items so that you can decloak oppentents. The exploit is dumping hundreds or thousand of items so that you cause your victims to lag out or crash out while trying to load the grid.

The last official word on corpses and cloaks was that corpses no longer decloak, however they can prevent you from cloaking.
Rumor has it that drones no longer decloak, but I have not seen it proved yet. Hopefully this is not the case. Drone sweeps are one of the few effective counters to the presence of suspected bombers/covert ops craft. And yes, I am a bomber pilot.
On the matter of targeting and cloaking most people misunderstand what is happening on their overview and with their sound effects (and it's funny how sound overrides all in many cases).
What happens is that people who have auto lockback on (a very bad idea by the way), hear that telltale "biddleboop biddleboop" sound and assume that means someone is in the process of locking on to them... at the same time they look on the overview and see their opponent has turned yellow. So they instinctively think the sound means someone is targeting them.
What has actually happened, of course, is that they have already been locked and the sound they hear is simply their own targeting system auto locking back on the aggressor.
The next thing they see is their opponent turn red and they take damage. They assume that red means "now you are now locked" rather than the correct "I was already locked, now he has activated weapons".
It's the little things that make the difference between life and death in EVE.
