Clearly the OP is Austrian. Anyway, T-Mobile, 3 (Drei) and Orange all suck the same, because of speed.
Do as i, get a Chello high speed connection (48 Ç/month ) and be happy with "uber" speed and no limitations. Only restriction is that you have to live in an area where chello is available.
Hope this helps.

The hardest part is finding somewhere T-Mobile gear actually picks up anything even resembling reception.

American companies DO have gigabyte limits, they just refuse to tell you what they are.
The OP is specifically talking about mobile data plans, which generally have around a couple gigabytes per month bandwidth limit. IIRC, in America, AT&T and Verizon both have a 5GB per month limit.
EVE itself uses very little bandwidth. I would be surprised if it used more than a gigabyte in a month of use. If all you do is play EVE, then I guarantee that you will NOT hit the bandwidth limit. VoIP applications use more bandwidth, but I don't think you'll hit your bandiwdth limit unless you use it excessively. The Speex codec uses at most 44 kilobaud, which is 5.5 kilobytes per second. You'd need to rack up 264 hours of voice communication in a month to hit a 5 gigabyte per month limit.
Or in other words, if you are hitting your bandwidth limit, you are also doing something else which is consuming a fair bit of bandwidth.

On my 3G modem in Tokyo those 30 gigs would be gone the first three days. ^_^

I think you misunderstood me. I only ever hear about Americans having bandwidth limits. The capitalism comment was me drawing attention to how different companies can work together in the name of everyone earning more money, and with the right connections, make things like that common across entire countries.

I have mobile broadband in the UK and it works fine fine as a backup for eve, struggles a bit with voice but apart from that it is ok for gaming. Bit of lag sometimes but what would you expect?

My apologies, I did misunderstand you. Reading comprehension ftl. Although it isn't just an American Phenomenon. I believe there are also plenty of European ISPs that also have bandwidth caps. But not being a European I really couldn't say much about it. ----------

I used Orange once (from Wanadoo which were fine). Biggest mistake. They offered a speed they could not provide and deliberately throttled busy times but denied it. Their web site was 100% adverts about how wonderful they were and nil support. They also got very aggressive when I cancelled. I now pay a bit extra and use BThere. Irritating name but they allow 3 or so computers to video stream at the same time with no lag at all. There is no limits and I get emailed about any work they are doing to my local exchange. I needed to replace my router and I got one from them, free, the same day. Technical support actually understand how modems work and even had me use the DOS commands to make checks once.
You really do get what you pay for I think.

Agree totally. I have used BT for 7 years now, and never had a problem. When I started I was on 512kbps speed, which over the years steadily increased, to the current up to 20mbps. Admittedly, my line rarely gets over 10, but its still good. Yes, it costs a bit more than rivals, but as said, you get what you pay for!

I live in the UK and am coming up to the end of my 18 month contract with T-Mobile for their 3GB a month mobile broadband plan. Haven't used it for months but when I was working security on night shifts I would work about 76 hours per week and most of that time was spent on Eve, I usually ran two clients and would browse the Internet, never came close to the 3Gb limit. The only thing that I had to be careful with was youtube which is to be expected anyway.
edit: On the comments about BT, I have been with BT broadband for about a year and a half now and I am really happy with them, just wish I had went with them much sooner. I was originally with Tiscali for a year and my connection deteriorated quickly, they blamed my computer and everything else that they were not responsible for and their engineers would never get back in-touch with me, this went on for a very long time until I left them and went with Pipex. Pipex were just as bad if not worse, turned out in the end that I was spending a small fortune on calls and time on the phone was ridiculous. Eventually I went with BT, told them of my issues and they told me that they aim to find and resolve the issue within 72 hours, which they did. Turned out a main line outside had water in it and that was screwing up the Internet. So in short, two years two companies couldn't find or fix the issue yet BT did it within three days. I wont be leaving BT anytime soon thats's for sure. Iva Posavec CEO of Posavec Innovations & Takhar Matari Leader |

I use comcast, and though I know that there are supposed to be monthly limits on bandwidth, I haven't experienced it either in throttling or by paying over my monthly bill. Hell, last month my server's bandwidth monitor recorded almost 2tb of data added to disk from my 20/3 home cable connection, which is something like 70%(roughly) max download speed for the entire month. That figure doesn't even include uploaded data (as access to the server for streaming to local machines counts as upload and is thus an irrelevant figure). ________

When I had U-Verse they didn't say anything about one. I didn't/don't have one with my standard DSL either and I didn't see one with any of their plans.
Could they even tell what was internet traffic and what was your television/phone? All of it comes over the same DSL line. ---

And this is how good companies do business. Not only did they get a customer for a long long time, but free advertising as well. I wish more companies went this route.

I agree with you to 100 %. WHEN it breaksdown, it is usually saturday afternoon and you can¦t get support for hours. Last time (maybe a month ago, knock on wood), support lady told me she will reset my modem which will need at least 3 (!!) hours. In fact i got my connection back sunday morning.
But when working it¦s uber fast and of course uber expensive!

You have pet kangaroos?
On a more serious note; what does it mean to be 'austrian to a topic'? Is that like germane, except instead of being related to the topic you're just 'kinda' related.
A: 'Is that really germane to our problem?' B: 'Nope, it's austrian.' A: '???' C: 'What B means is our problem's father was married to its mother. They divorced and each had a problem child later, so they're austrian not germane.'
