I'm a new corp leader, have been running my corp for about a month now, but have been having a little trouble finding new recruits. Is there any tips anyone could give me on where or how to find potential recruits?
Greatly appreciate any tips anyone could throw at me.
Thanks Eclipse |

Most people today are looking for corps that are actually doing something unique. Filling some kind of role as a corp. If its just a corp for corps sake you aren't likely to attract anyone. Having your **** together in advance helps. Here are some tips.
1. Create and establish what your corps goals are and how you will achieve them. 2. Have a website and interaction out of the game (forums etc..) 3. Create events weekly.. daily even. Make sure that when people log in, your corp is doing something. 4. Make sure you recruit people on the same time zone... 5. Don't make scamy sounding request (I need your API key, I need some money... you need to do an interview etc..) .. You might need to do some of this stuff later, but as a new corp.. definitly no 6. Look for newbies... Skip the vets.
As for where to recruit. The best way to recruit initially is to get your friends to play. Start a corp with a few core members, people you know who play together daily. It makes your corp much more attractive. |

Go to one of the starting systems and find the scrubs charging around in an ibis armed with whatever they looted. They are easily corrupted. |

Kryss, thank you much for that, currently its just me and 4 of my buds ive flown with for 2 years, were still in the stage of trying to figure out exactly wtf were going to do, we just have so many interests it's a bit of a headache to just pick a select few lol.
Like what we've decided so far that we want to have Incursion fleets, Mission fleet ops, Mining ops, and doing some lowsec roams. Is that too much or should I maybe focus more on one or two of those goals?

Yeah that's what I thought, friend of mine picked the name, he wanted to raid wormholes. I plan on remaking the corp after we get all our assets out of my alliances nullsec area. |

With 4 of you in the corp you could maybe think about taking up residence in a C3 or maybe C4 (not too sure if thats good with 4 tho) wormhole, low sec static means you can roam different areas on a daily basis for pvp etc. Also pvp to be had within the wh and lots of opportunity for making some isk to fund the pvp. Will also give you some decent mining (when the grav sites actually spawn) and plenty of gas mining opportunities. |

Thanks Obax, I'll have to look into that, a year or so ago we used to reside in a C1 WH, but I have no experience in anything bigger. I'll check it out, thanks for the idea. :) |

Some recruiting tips:
1. Remember, the toons reflect the sociopathic norm of the player base. Read: They're all out to cut your throat.
2. In EVE, greed is not only good, it's the main focus of the game. Read: Don't let anyone have access to the loot.
3. The new players are drawn from a functionally illiterate society. Read: Have your mute button handy for corp voice chat.
4. The cake is a lie.
Good luck with your membership drive.

Make sure you insist on a security deposit before recruiting a new player. Something in the 250-500m range is a good start. |

What he said. As your corp gets older and more experienced and as such so your members.... you can afford to be much more choosy as to the type/calliper of pilots you want in your corp to fit your goals.

1. Get them to fork over the 500 million isk security deposit. 2. Have them contract all their possessions to you so you can "transport them to your home system" 3. Tell them to fly to some nullsec space and have an escort fleet waiting for them. Blow them up when they get there and blame an overview bug. 4. Lean back and enjoy the tears. Starting a corp out initially is very hard to do. Unless you actually have a group already then things are going to be slow. People will look at you 4-5 member list and move on. So starting out take what you can get to fluff numbers abit. Also HAVE A PLAN. Jack of all trade corps are a dime a dozen, the thing that sets some apart is that they are structured well and have a set goal.
Lastly and most importantly, DELEGATE. This is more about leading the corp in general then trying to get members. However the quickest way for a corp to fail is to have only 1-2 people running the show then eventually get burnt out. Its not much of a issue when your small but when you grow larger it does really make this game mind numbing. It also helps with general moral and recruitment when people know theres possibility of leadership positions. |

Hard to recruit when subscriptions in eve are declining (now). Best time is after a successful expansion when u got plenty of new peeps around looking for a home. |

I have no answers for you. The advice in this thread is right on and pretty much everything I do. But the fact of the matter is it's still difficult. The only thing that I can offer you that has worked for me far more than recruiting is to talk to people. Make contacts. Keep in touch with those contacts. Talk to them periodically, see how things are going it. See if you have common goals and try to parle those commonalities into something when the opportunity arises.
When you meet people in space for the first time, talk to them instead of killing them if its obvious they have no malicious intent. One of my best buds in the game I met ninja looting his mission site ;)

Offer: 1. Sexual favors. 2. Orgy parties "frozen corpses included". 3. Boosters "with the requirement to have at least biology level 1" (freshmen never OD). 4. Rocking good times at the expense of others. 5. Did I mention... RROOCCCKKK AAAAAANNNNN ROOLLLLL!
This leads to success. If it doesn't than you fail, try again. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" |

Yeah - especially if you're specializing into the new content - Wh corps back in Apocrypha corps used to work great - guess Incursion corps worked as well - but founding a corp that specializes in CQ, such as morons? Not so much... morons-áare recruiting. We're good at breeding! |

Yeah - don't bother. There aren't any new players in eve and any that you do find will soak up all your time, patience and good will. Then quit after 2 months.
Also, nobody joins a 'new' corp unless you have something worth stealing. |

That's a very silly thing to say and couldn't be farther from the truth. Their are more new players today than their ever have been in Eve as long as I have been playing and the SOV alliances have become so picky about who they let it that recruiting has all but halted out their. There has never been a better time to start a new corp and start recruiting than right now. |

Your corp has 41 members. Half of which presumably are alts.
Dreddit has 2000 members. Most of which came to this game through a third party and as known quantities.
See the problem? |
