I know of at least 2 systems where no Asteroid respawn is happening for days (Renyn, Pakshi). Is this normal? Im allmost 100% sure that in Pak the roids respawned once since release of Exodus and that was in the 1st unscheduled DT. Since then - no new roids.
Werent they supposed to pop up after every DT? Anybody else noticing this? Bug or feature?

They are supposed to respawn slowly, but not instantly. --------
FireFoxx80: If you think you can do a better job, go find yourself a datacentre to host a box, get a copy of Visual Studio, and STFU. |

Edited by: Brideyna on 29/11/2004 12:37:31 Well - slowly meaning what? Im pretty sure there hasnt been a single pop in that particular belt in Pak for at least 3 if not 4 days. Im not talking some kind of high value stuff - im talking Veld and Scor. If you take a look at Renyn - u wont find a single roid. Im pretty new to this game so Im not sure but I thought Ive read somewhere that they are supposed to pop/grow a bit during DT every day.
So does anyone know anything - uhhhm - bit mor specific?
And Sindrena=Brideyna btw - sorry, messed it up

Well, there should be some regrowth. A dev will probably see this and have it respawned next DT I reckon.... --------

Personally, I've cleared out a whole system of all of it's omber, and it doesn't regenerate for 4-5 days. FYI....

No new asteroids, and no growth of old ones in the systems I mine, since the downtime on the 24th.

Don't pop roids, unless you want to wait forever for them to come back.
Use a survey scanner and stop mining when a couple hundred (thousands for veld & scord) are left in the roid.
That way the roid will regrow slowly each day.
If you pop it, it will take days/weeks for it to be spawned again.
Also note that new spawn changes are now in effect (or about to hit). So if you clear all the omber roids, they might not grow back, only scordite instead

Thats what I did in that particular field Im testing in (in Pakhshi or whatever it is called, Genesis". Its no biggy so I can post about it :) Its consistant of Veld/Scor/Pyr and its a 0.8 sec highway system. Because of the fact that there is no refinery, it still has quite low miner traffic.
I popped all scor/veld roids in that particular belt which took me 3 days or so with my crappy 4 miner 2s and only so much time. I left the py ones with about 1-2k remaining. I pooed the scor/veld ones in the hope of better ones upon respawn (ie. trying to "farm" a bit). Its just a test mainly.
However - there was NO replenishment on the existing pyr ones and NO new spawns since that 1st 1900 GMT unscheduled downtime. 24th sounds about right (as posted above).
I have the impression that they "switched" respawn off to reduce load in the beginning and forgot to switch it back on or something.

Edited by: Ruari on 29/11/2004 14:49:08 I'm still fairly new so this sounds like it is possibly common, but I had to fly through three galaxies(?) last night to find an Asteroid Belt that actually had Asteroids. I was blown away when in my second galaxy 4th Belt, I saw a spec on my screen, and figuring I must have sneezed on it at sometime in the not so distant past, tried to clean it off. When it didn't clean off I got excited and zoomed in and saw it was a Roid with a whole 1300m3 of Plagio. Anyways, I hope the Belts are going to respawn faster. As a fresh newb mining is my surest way into a better ship. And any bumps in my mining road seem like major potholes at this point in my Eve Career.

I think its a bug I know of more than 2 since the Addon.Airkio was my home system and has no roids left in it.

I'm not sure if it made it into the Exodus build, but weren't we supposed to start popping them in order for them to have a chance at regrowing as something better than would normally be seen in that respective sec level.
There was a whole thing on features.
Quote:
Ore Respawn Enhancements When an asteroid respawns it has a small chance of being of a different type than the location would normally yield but would spawn as if the security level of the system was lower. This gives a certain variety to the distribution and allows for explore to find better ores. Example:
Probability of going lower than its default level:
25% of going 1 level down 12% of going 2 level down 6% of going 3 level down 3% of going 4 level down 1.5% of going 5 level down 0.7% of going 6 level down 0.3% of going 7 level down 0.15% of going 8 level down 0.07% of going 9 level down
So I hope they haven't broken spawning, otherwise I've been strip mining one belt in vain.

Depends on how you want to farm.
Do you want to make sure you have a steady stream of trit and pyerite? Don't pop the veld and scordite.
Are you drowning in trit and pyer but in a high sec system? Sure go ahead and pop those roids but the odds of a crokite spawning are very very slim.

Crokite, sure, but some Jaspet or even if really lucky something like Gneiss, would make a high sec miner's day.
