Most can probably tell by the title what will be the question here :P. Can a player fly Jovian ships? I for one personally think the Jovian story to be amazing. I am asking because in a game that uses the whole "make your destiny" line...I would think the game would hold true and allow you to do which you like in said game. If you can not pilot Jovian ships I actually think that to be a huge let down and rather pathetic but I figured I would ask.

If a game claims this "In EVE you are free to choose your own destiny." where it clearly states what the game is about...then I would at least expect them to fulfill such said words. I mean...but I guess I am just someone who thinks that if you claim something then you should fulfill it. Not "In EVE you are free to choose your own destiny...let us just tell you everything you can't do in this game that we tell you is yours to decide". Kinda takes the whole "free to choose" idea out of it doesn't it?

There is a Jovian shuttle given out during one of EVE's anniversaries. Can still be found via contracts. I forgot the name of it though. You'll know it when you see it. :)

Sure the Jovian ships exist, but guess what, Jovian space is inaccessible, and is used for Alliance Tournaments and GM Affairs.
It's fairly ridiculous to assume that you can do anything within the game, and it is far more ridiculous that you're raging at CCP for not letting you do everything possible in the game. Games need limitations.
Grow up.

i fail to see how make your own destiny in any way relates to jovian ships at all.
in eve you make your own destiny, you mine, you kill, you run corporations, you do whatever you want, you have no level markers saying this area is too tough for you go back to westfall, you do what you want, how you want. that doesn't mean you can literally do whatever you want. I can't build the starship enterprise, because this isn't star trek online.
tl;dr, your a noob who has no idea what they're talking about lern 2 brain plox.

Edited by: Taedrin on 15/03/2010 03:34:57 Sure you can fly Jovian ships. The only things you need to fly a jovian ship is the ship itself and the skill(s) to fly it with. Once you find these things, your dreams will be complete. I'm sure you can do it - you just need to believe in yourself! ----------

jove = gm atm, with some exceptions (apotheosis, luxury yacht). Show me a game where players get gm items and ill show you one thats no fun at all. --------------------------------- Pillage, then burn. Everything is air-droppable at least once. There is no 'overkill.' There is only 'open fire' and 'time to reload.

As I'm sure you have read from all the other banter here....your argument is on one hell of a slippery slope.
But think about it....you DO choose your own destiny....as any of the races they let you play and the role you choose to fill with it.
If the Jove were playable, sure.....I would be ****ed. But you can't play jove. Just like you can't play Ewoks or Klingon's.
If you read the backstory, you will see that the Jove are actually hermit like and have secluded themselves for the larger part of the history. They just fell off the map with reguards to the other races.
So since we play either Caldari, Gallente, Minmitar, or Amarr.....it would make sense that we do things from those races.
If your looking for a game that claims "make your own destiny" and your defanition is as such that you should be able to do EVERYTHING that your heart desires.....prepare to be disappointed and sooner or later quit gaming and take up nitting or something of that sort. Until someone tells you that you can knit the quilt of destiny and then you rage quit knitting for something else afd find out that your whole life is just one big lie and that in reality your are predestined to fail.....and the whole "free will" concept is just a sham to give you the illusion that you can do what you want.
so....*shrug* whatever.....go play hello kitty online or wizard 101 -------------- (Insert whatever you want here) |

You just need the Polaris skill at level 5 to fly jovian ships. Throw it in an evemon skillplan to see how long it would take you.. not too long, i dont think. OHGODS BELOW THIS LINE IS MY SIG !!!! SRSLY! Blane Xero > Lance is at -0.9 sec status with a 1 million bounty. Lance is also amarrian. Thats 3 evil points |

You can choose between 4 destinies.
1) Guy who ganks people for giggles
2) Guy who buys and sells lots of stuff
3) Guy who does missions
4) Guy who's just another ship in his alliances blob
Choose wisely adventurer! The future of the kingdom is in your hands!
