It comes down to this
There are too many people in the world, and not enough resources to go around.
second, there are also hatreds out there that have been going on since biblical times that have not gone away and are ready to explode again.
third, then entire world needs to all get laid all at the same time! seriously if everyone got laid at least 4x a month we would have a lot less problems in the world.
No you wouldn't, you'd have an exponentially compounded population to resources problem in about 9 months! > WHILE SIG<AWESOME DO LOOP there is no escape from my crappy sig. |

Just my opinion...
We (Humanity) have lost the point to life. It's all about Money (Greed) now. A perfect example of this is the "Heath Care Reform" here in America. Not one side is talking (Debating) about actual "Heath Care" it is all about how we "Pay" for Heath Care and who we pay our money to and how much we should Pay. Not one debate on the actual "Care of Health" ie: a Doctor goes to school for 8-12 years but needs a Machine to tell him what is wrong with you. Or how there is no Cures for anything anymore, just some pill to cover up the Problem (stop taking said pill and the problem is still there)
Sorry, not trying to turn this into health care but I think it is a Prime example of what is wrong in the world. And I think Deep Down people know something is just wrong with that type of thinking. Hence the strong feeling the World is going to ****.
On a side note... I'm am in AWE of the Mayan 2012 thing (not saying I think anything is going to happen). They could calculate cycles in our galaxy (with no computers) while at the same time the civilized world (us) would kill people for thinking Earth wasn't the center of the Universe. They could keep track of time as accurate as we do today (we need computers to do it, they had none) and the BEST thing of it all...........The Christians destroyed them and their knowledge. lol come to think of it Christians + History = Not a very loving group of People. But that is another topic. ------------------- Some good Advice to live by is Here. |

Well, the dinos did OK. I mean they ate each other and stuff, but they didn't hold wars and that. They did OK till a meteor wiped them out.
We like to kill each other. Having evolved from apes that needed social heirachy to survive we have inhereted that failing. My house is better than your house, but our street is better than the next street. However, both our streets are better than all the streets in the next town. I grant you, both our towns down here in the south are better than all the towns in the north BUT our whole country is better than france of course. Next thing you know america is threatening europe so obvioulsy france is now our allies. It will only be when the martians arrive that the whole globe will pull together as one, but by then it will be too late cos we have wasted all that time and money killing our own kind.
So, we either get blatted by a big asteroid and die like the dinos, or we kill each other cos we think we are better than everyone else, or aliens wipe us out. Either way, we WILL die out sooner or later.
Check out exit mundi for a light hearted look at what might go wrong. |

Originally by: Arvald what i dont understand is why people are so opposed to war, every single civilization on this planet has been built through conquest and battle, humans are naturally violent creatures so why not embrace what we are instead of trying to push it away *grabs shotgun* hell i did and im a lot happier for it *annexes neighbors grill*
I think that the problem is more the humans are more naturally greedy then they are naturally violent. If it was an issue of being naturally violent then we would have never evolved as efficiently since we would have killed each other before we learned from each other. Then again this is talking about humanity back before language and civilization was created.

The Earth, properly engineered, could sustain a population an order of magnitude larger than we have today. That means the population can increase as much as it did between 1000 AD and today, and, assuming our technology develops at the same pace, we'll be just fine for the next 500 years even if you assume we'll still be bound to Earth's resources alone by then.
But then again, the Earth by itself represents only a little above one millionth of the resources of our solar system. And I think it's pretty absurd to assume we'll still be limited to Earth alone for much longer (in terms of population trends).
So no, we won't die out of overpopulation. That's an oxymoron. --------------------------- Only those who surrender are lost |

There are gigantic amounts of un used farm land in eastern europe and Russia that could be used for farming. And lots of land in general in Africa too. However farm subsidies in the west prevent poor countries becoming the food basket of the world.
When you see western politicians talk about helping the 3rd world its all BS. What would help Africa and other poor countries the most is global abolition of farm subsidies.

No, totalitarian tinpot dictators are preventing poor countries from becoming food baskets. Case in point: Rhodesia/zimbabwe. The only "help" the third world needs is a healthy dose of democracy and freedom, by force if necessary. They'll be able to pick themselves up without leeching off us once they are free.
And in any case, this has ZERO RELEVANCE to the topic at hand. This entire thread illustrates perfectly why there are so many doom prophecies: Because people take random problems that couldn't possibly spell the end of humanity, and claim they will. --------------------------- Only those who surrender are lost |

I have to say that agricultural subsidies are something that need heavy readjustments, especially in the US. In the US corporate farms are the primary farms and recieve an upward estimate of 70% of the total subsidies in the US. If the US would only give the subsidies to family farms I would be fine, but I find it crooked that US taxes are used to solidfy the bottom line of Corporate farms.
Considering how corporate farms can drive down international comodity prices, lesser developed countries pretty much loose the opportunity to compete in the markets that they have the most potential to be successful in. Or those markets have already been stolen from the locals decades ago by foriegn interests, United Fruit Co. for a historical example. And then we wonder why they struggle to get a leg up.

As humans we are still too immature to realize how futile the concept of Dualism really is. The game of good versus evil or right versus wrong is a dangerous one, but we play it anyway because it's the only game we know how to play. The only one we feel confident in. The only one we know how to win. We are more or less just children playing a child's game. Our persistent black & white thinking is what holds us back, keeps us from graduating to adulthood. It all comes down to consciousness.
I know how you feel. Material of this nature affect us all in different ways. What you need to do is learn from this. And this is just my sig. |
