Edited by: Shrike Arghast on 20/03/2010 09:45:08 It'll be nice to see how this pans out... I think the idea of planetary bombardment and occupation is nifty, if that's what winds up happening here. Certainly planets are very valuable commodities - I don't see any reason for 0.0 corps not to own the planets and have to defend them when they control the systems the planets are in.

I just don't know! Whole idea of pod pilots building infrastructure and harvesting already settled planets looks completely out of place to me. I thought we are supposed to roam deep space and fight for what's in it, leaving planets to ordinary people. And if we really have to mess with planets then I guess it would be better to limit access only to inhabitated planets no Empire has put their hands on. As someone said, it's incredibly stupid to build stuff in the middle of Amarr prime for example - someone down there would probably get pretty angry, amirite?
About the teaser: well... it was boring. Sorry, no teasing here.

i look at it this way; we, that is pod pilots, are like Anne McCaffrey's "The Ship Who Sang". well other than, in theory we can get out of the pods. <coughincarnacough> anyway since we can do lots of things, fly a ship, run factory production lines, do some kind of research, all because our brains are hooked up running like some massive multi-parallel cpu proccesser. it kinda makes sense that some ppl woul want us to er... "help" in ground based mining and production, also many planets out there are only marginally habitable, or so inhospitable to make most "normal" colony modules too expensive, so it would be more useful for us to run automated lines such at these.

Tritanium - The main building block in space structures. A very hard, yet bendable metal. Cannot be used in human habitats due to its instability at atmospheric temperatures. Very common throughout the world.
Tritanium
So how exactly are ships suppose to enter suborbital levels to pick up cargo...?

i just thought
if you take all the minerals from a planet it does die out and become inhabitable ofc this is easy to work around since we have ways of using oxygen/whatever pod pilots use to breath with us, so the question is if the planet is heavily mined will that change the appearance of the planet and would it make unbalanced ground etc gizers loss of gravity etc etc? and for apperance if it was a buetiful planet green landscape with clear blue sea would that turn into a waist land with murky/no water? -----------------------------------------------
I met Eliminator1..... I chewed it up, and spat it out. Now, he is my minion.

It looks quite nice to me and since some of my alts are experienced miners I'm looking forward to some "planetary mining". I'm also interested in the requirements for a planetary base. Up to now the only way to set up your own station was the installation of a POS. After several years of gameplay one of my favourite goals still is to have my own POS. The greatest obstacle for me however is the achievement of the necessary standing (for a empire POS). Being a miner I have neglected mission-running for a long time. Of course I could install a POS on lowsec but with a small corp like mine it would not survive yery long. Now I really wonder if setting up a planetary station will be as difficult. I dont expect that everyone could do that easily after he trained the necessary skills.

uhuh. you remember this is a game? a game where asteroid fields pop out of nothing? keep your idea of realism a bit lower, nothing like that will happen.

I think variable planet imagery is in the works, at least as far as settlement goes... not too far of a stretch to expand on it.

the ship looks like a war barge the strucutre is probably a planetary control command center or a satelite launche reciever facility Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |
