I've been away from this game for quite some time now and recently came back to a brand new account, I want to start up a gallente character and move up to an Ishtar as fast as possible (cause I love those ships) but im wondering about the reccomended skill setup to fly one? I've been away from this game for far too long so it's really hard to get back into this and plan out the entire list of skills.
I figure i need at the very least some good drone skills but im not sure what else. |

Take all your main drone skills to 5, and your drone support skills to 4 or 5. Drones are your life.
Take all the armor and/or shield tanking skills to 4 or 5. The Ishtar can do both well, though depending on what you're going to be fighting, one can be better than the other.
Take all the fitting skills to 5. You need every iota of PG and CPU to do many fits, though some faction modules with reduced CPU/PG can help in that regard. If you plan on using drone rigs, you'll be even harder pressed for CPU.
Train your support skills to 4 or 5. Things like longer targeting range, faster lock time, and better capacitor will help you on any ship.
Optionally, train up for small or medium turrets. They can be hard to put on in some fits, but having other damage sources can be helpful.
Additionally, start with flying a Vexor. It doesn't fit exactly the same, but it'll give you the general feel for what you're getting yourself into. |

Edited by: Car Wars on 18/03/2010 22:03:21 on the ishtar i prefer to use small autocannons as they dont use cap. They are good vs small stuff. You will not be able to fit medium guns anyways so its doesnt matter bonus wise.
Like said its a drone boat. Train drone interfacing to at least 4. All support skills to lv4. You really need to have tech II small and med (scout drones 5) and possibly heavy drone 5 for ogre II and beserker II.
Ishtar is very good with a passive shield tanke with 2x large shield extender and a bit of speed in the low. Pretty easy to train for that setup. |

It is a very skill intensive ship weather you go passive or active tank. Plus I found I like Heavy T2's a lot more then Sentry T2's with it which adds even more skill points wince T2 sentries are a bit easier to train for.
But man is this ship a dream and worth training for when it comes to ratting Guristas.
The biggest reason I like heavy or sentries is doing DED plexs and speed tanking I hate being stationary witht he sentries. |
