it will pretty much kill most ship builders and miners alike. Without a de facto NPC buye rofr ships (which is basically what unsurance scamming is) then the ship builders wont have a steady supply of cash nor any outlet to sell their ships, so they basically stop buying the minerals to make the ships, and eventually once the market becomes completely saturated and the miners cant sell their minerals or ore, they will eventually stop playing as well.
CCP either has to have an NPC outlet for ore, mnerals, ships, or all 3. know they dont want to, but there simply arent enough player losses to require all the minerals that get put into the system on a daily basis.
Even if they had belts respawn only every 72 hours i still think there would be a surplus.
because "legit' ship builders cant sell their ships now, unless they are below insurance fraud prices.
the only other possible solution is to not allow people who build the ships destroy to them themselves, but that would probably reqiure too much and would just **** people off, or they would make more alts to do it so an easy work around more or less.
I know CCP doesnt want an NPC supported economy, but it is that already for the most part, and to keep people wanting to play they have to figure uot some automated way for these people to keep rotating their supplies into cash.
even if the NPCs had a fluid market akin to Guild Wars where the more they buy the lower the price, and the more buy orders the higher the price and then the market takes over so it is a checks and balances system.
But with only players character buying these high end ships it is going to drop the demand for minerals to almost zero, because the ship builders wont have any reason to build more than a ship or two a month probably.
And of course this effects others as well, like the researches and BP sellers, so not just the miners and the builders.
and it goes beyond what little bit of minerals you get from scraping loot drops. Those amounts arent even a dent.
When you have guys that can build 250-300 ships a day just to blow up for insurance, and who knows how many can do that and that isnt even at max efficiencey, that is a TON of minerals not being sought. I know two guys than can burn through 3 billion units of trit, and anotherbillion units of pyer, and the subsequent amounts for other minerals every single day doing insurance frauds, so that one guy will acount for a lot of stuff not being sold if the isurance is 'fixed' and he cant sell those ships he sis blowing up now to someone else. Which isnt plausible. Unless it is an NPC.
