Remind me when I was first podded. I was 4 days old and while hunting in 0.4 space rats, one of those dropped Guritas Log and seeing those first time I tought it was some uber rare stuff and read it. It said that some system in 0.0 space was having a secret base in moon around some planet. So I got my friend and we started heading there. It was bit after DT so there wasn't many players and we afk jumped 20 jumps in 0.0 space. Arrived there and killed stuff until our merlins was full of loot. My friend had to go so he stayed there. I started my way back to empire to sell uber loot I accured. Set destination to The Citadel and afk jump 20 jumps back. While surffing web and having EVE in nosound mode (playing Mp3's) I once alt-tabbed to see where I was atm but to my horror I saw my lifeless frozen corpse rotating in space. I looked local and that pirate who killed me was asking me whos alt I was - so he podded me because he tought I was someones alt _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

Hehe, almost a month into the game now and already 2 of you lot have gotten me.
First time solo mining in 0.3 with a probe after 4 days of playing, someone in a kestrel wacked me and podded... Oh well, nice introduction to pvp
Heh still intending to hunt him down actualy, but I'll get round to it.
Second time rat hunting in 0.2 in a rupture, after about, ehm, 2 weeks playing. Some ebil -8.5 sec status guy in a raven caught me while I was paying attention to the npc's. Managed to escape having to clone though hehe, I'd learned from last time
I don't realy see any danger in low sec though. What're the chances I'll run into a ganking if I have my map set to recent ship destructions? If I'd been paying better attention to my sensor screen I would probably have been able to avoid the guys that got me too, if I'd noticed their little red squares.
I'm out in 0.4 to 0.0 every day chasing after rats, often alone, and with just a little bit of care I doubt I'll be in any danger from 's what so ever, why should I worry? Got me a nice shiny new ship, should be able to handle any single attacker short of a battleship, I don't see danger. There arn't enough pirates around to bring substantial danger to low sec, and those of you who are there are just too easy to avoid with the tools ingame, map thingy and local... ------------
/me wants a restart firing after reload macro to save some effort when shooting at stations for hour after hour after hour... (EEEP! don't ban me!!!111oneoneone) |

Im not talking bout the hundreds of alts, but actual new players ?
I remember wondering into 0.4 when i was 1,5 months old, and it scared the **** out of me. But no, they run around as mad. And piracy havent exactly tuned down either.
In my line of profession, i sometimes gategank in lowsec space. And im not totally lacking sense and emotions, so pod'ing a n00b gives me a bad day sometimes.
Is someone telling these ppl that lowsec is safe ? cuz, 0.4- has never been as unsafe as now, actually yr more likely to get ganked in 0.1 - 0.4 than in 0.0 i would say.
As recently as yesterday i ganked a osprey in 0.2, then found out she/he had been playing for 13 days or so, so i made a mence by covering her/his loss, and suggested she stay out of lowsec space. Carebearish i know, but damn, even pie-rats have a heart.

Oh yeah, this tread is just a post of toughts, no real issue here :)
hehe.. its kinda funny you said that becouse i remeber short bus guys doing that and then seeing they where noobs or mission runners then they would give them there stuff back or isk. noobs dont realize that they look like spys or scouts when in that space and are instant targats..

LOL, this thread really confirms my idea that piracy is by far the lamest profession in Eve. Killing some no-loot noobs is pathetic. Why u guys still this have this urge to be a wannabe pirate? And btw, i feel Exodus finally took the last bit of fun out of piracy anyway...

Its not even piracy most of the time. If you are fighting the alliances the only way to attack them outside of blob war is to gate camp the low sec routes in and out of empire. And because people are lame and use noob alt characters to scout, you have to kill them. 90% of the time they are alt spies.
And BTW piracy has been mostly dead for nearly a year. --------------------------------------------------

Its sort of simple really.
New Player = free ship if killed. Has the starter clone so looses no skill points. Therefore a new player is in the ideal position to explore 0.4 to 0.0 to get a feel for whats out there, especially as once he/she decides to start playing proper, it might be a while before they venture out into the low sec sectors again.

My first trip into 0.0 space was when I was about 1.5 months into the game in my shiny new Moa, I was flying around exploring away happily when I noticed players in local talking about taking an Apoc down at the gate, on further investigation of the players in local I noticed the Corp Moo was on most of thier infos. I warped into the exit gate area to be confronted by a sea of drones and BS, luckily I had 2 MWDS fitted and managed to fly through losing my shield and half my armour. Stavros informed me that id been very lucky to escape a Moo blockade and I havnt been there since.
One of the luckier times when I escaped.

Originally by: V2GBR I have refunded before aswell.
But the best is when you get hate mail from a new player you a n00b, makes me giggle :)
Aye V, I much appreciated the refund on my badger back when I was a scared new player running through Mara and its hordes of pirates. Have to say that all I talked to while trying to evade in that area were very decent people. Be a hard choice to make if I see you ingame now we're in warring alliances. Probably have you make it for me though as my Ferox drifts off in pieces into the night!
Actually I saw a funny post about how mean you were by killing someone a few weeks ago. Made me laugh. Lowsec space and trying to run past a pirate blockade, then moaning about dying. A bit like running in front of cars in the street and then trying to sue them for hitting you!
