Edited by: MrMorph on 30/11/2004 12:22:10 Why is it that every 2 ships that comes trough a 0.4- gate is a n00b player, thus not beeing more that 14 days of age ?
Im not talking bout the hundreds of alts, but actual new players ?
I remember wondering into 0.4 when i was 1,5 months old, and it scared the **** out of me. But no, they run around as mad. And piracy havent exactly tuned down either.
In my line of profession, i sometimes gategank in lowsec space. And im not totally lacking sense and emotions, so pod'ing a n00b gives me a bad day sometimes.
Is someone telling these ppl that lowsec is safe ? cuz, 0.4- has never been as unsafe as now, actually yr more likely to get ganked in 0.1 - 0.4 than in 0.0 i would say.
As recently as yesterday i ganked a osprey in 0.2, then found out she/he had been playing for 13 days or so, so i made a mence by covering her/his loss, and suggested she stay out of lowsec space. Carebearish i know, but damn, even pie-rats have a heart.

Oh yeah, this tread is just a post of toughts, no real issue here :)

Yeah, thats a real giggle :) got a mail going something like this once:
"You ******* *******, blody noob. Go carebear some in yulai you retarded ********. You couldnt kill a ibis if it was falling apart"
Considering i just blew his Thorax to hell, that statement just made me take the extra bother, and warp to next gate and gank his pod aswell.

That's true. When I first started, I pretty much did all my playing in a 0.6 system. I never ventured far from there. Now that I've played a few months, I don't often leave 0.0 space. But when I am in low sec space, I see a whole lot of people who've only been playing days. ---------------------------------- I <3 mining. |

Noobs go into 0.4 because 0.5-1.0 is boring.
Took me about 3 days for the rats in belts in 0.5+ to become less than a challenge. I even tried group mining jaspet with a bunch of noob corp ppl. Well, I didn't actually mine, just flew around in my punisher watching others do it and shooting the odd rat that turned up.
Funny thing is, I now spend most of my time in 0.5+ doing kill missions. Strange huh ?

Two words: Free Clone
But seriously, send a little isk and a friendly note to all the poor genuine new players you gotta pod. It's always been the classy thing to do, plus, it gets them on the slightly faster track to becoming neighbors (with better loot).

I've been playing for all of 3-4 days now. From time to time, I can't find safe routes, so I have to take my chances in .3-.4 space. Luckily, no one has been too hostile when I'm passing through.
I try to have the foresight to check the map for ship and pod destruction over the past hour, and I like my autopilot to avoid low security space.

Remind me when I was first podded. I was 4 days old and while hunting in 0.4 space rats, one of those dropped Guritas Log and seeing those first time I tought it was some uber rare stuff and read it. It said that some system in 0.0 space was having a secret base in moon around some planet. So I got my friend and we started heading there. It was bit after DT so there wasn't many players and we afk jumped 20 jumps in 0.0 space. Arrived there and killed stuff until our merlins was full of loot. My friend had to go so he stayed there. I started my way back to empire to sell uber loot I accured. Set destination to The Citadel and afk jump 20 jumps back. While surffing web and having EVE in nosound mode (playing Mp3's) I once alt-tabbed to see where I was atm but to my horror I saw my lifeless frozen corpse rotating in space. I looked local and that pirate who killed me was asking me whos alt I was - so he podded me because he tought I was someones alt _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

Hehe, almost a month into the game now and already 2 of you lot have gotten me.
First time solo mining in 0.3 with a probe after 4 days of playing, someone in a kestrel wacked me and podded... Oh well, nice introduction to pvp
Heh still intending to hunt him down actualy, but I'll get round to it.
Second time rat hunting in 0.2 in a rupture, after about, ehm, 2 weeks playing. Some ebil -8.5 sec status guy in a raven caught me while I was paying attention to the npc's. Managed to escape having to clone though hehe, I'd learned from last time
I don't realy see any danger in low sec though. What're the chances I'll run into a ganking if I have my map set to recent ship destructions? If I'd been paying better attention to my sensor screen I would probably have been able to avoid the guys that got me too, if I'd noticed their little red squares.
I'm out in 0.4 to 0.0 every day chasing after rats, often alone, and with just a little bit of care I doubt I'll be in any danger from 's what so ever, why should I worry? Got me a nice shiny new ship, should be able to handle any single attacker short of a battleship, I don't see danger. There arn't enough pirates around to bring substantial danger to low sec, and those of you who are there are just too easy to avoid with the tools ingame, map thingy and local... ------------
/me wants a restart firing after reload macro to save some effort when shooting at stations for hour after hour after hour... (EEEP! don't ban me!!!111oneoneone) |

Its not even piracy most of the time. If you are fighting the alliances the only way to attack them outside of blob war is to gate camp the low sec routes in and out of empire. And because people are lame and use noob alt characters to scout, you have to kill them. 90% of the time they are alt spies.

Its not even piracy most of the time. If you are fighting the alliances the only way to attack them outside of blob war is to gate camp the low sec routes in and out of empire. And because people are lame and use noob alt characters to scout, you have to kill them. 90% of the time they are alt spies.

Its sort of simple really.
New Player = free ship if killed. Has the starter clone so looses no skill points. Therefore a new player is in the ideal position to explore 0.4 to 0.0 to get a feel for whats out there, especially as once he/she decides to start playing proper, it might be a while before they venture out into the low sec sectors again.

My first trip into 0.0 space was when I was about 1.5 months into the game in my shiny new Moa, I was flying around exploring away happily when I noticed players in local talking about taking an Apoc down at the gate, on further investigation of the players in local I noticed the Corp Moo was on most of thier infos. I warped into the exit gate area to be confronted by a sea of drones and BS, luckily I had 2 MWDS fitted and managed to fly through losing my shield and half my armour. Stavros informed me that id been very lucky to escape a Moo blockade and I havnt been there since.
One of the luckier times when I escaped.

Aye V, I much appreciated the refund on my badger back when I was a scared new player running through Mara and its hordes of pirates. Have to say that all I talked to while trying to evade in that area were very decent people. Be a hard choice to make if I see you ingame now we're in warring alliances. Probably have you make it for me though as my Ferox drifts off in pieces into the night!
Actually I saw a funny post about how mean you were by killing someone a few weeks ago. Made me laugh. Lowsec space and trying to run past a pirate blockade, then moaning about dying. A bit like running in front of cars in the street and then trying to sue them for hitting you!

Two Inferno Torpedos and bye bye Noodle, apart from the fact I didn't realise I had my speakers turned up quite high and the explosion nearly deafened me. It would have made one hell of a screenshot. Anyway, to the point. Players don't deserve to cop a load of abuse when they take out another player, and if ya can't handle it...stop playing. I have not played long time, but i met a newbie camper outside one of the starter Space Stations, with (i think)debris, and a container floating, but since i had already a waypoint ready, i hit autopilot, and my 2. ship easy escaped. Too bad i didnt realize i was under attack, it would have been fun to test his gun, against the armor i had.

I would like to say that I am not a pirate, and SE is not a pirate empire, but as has been said before most new characters in 0.0 are really alts. I think the way alts are created and used needs to be looked at, or new players are always going to get wiped out in 0.0.
Perhaps alt characters could be tagged with the name, corp, and alliance of the highest-skilled characer on the account, either in the new tab or in the Bio. That would eliminate both corp spies and alt 0.0 spies, for the most part. Those classes eliminated, it would allow people to let n0obs off a little in 0.0 _______________________________________________ "...which will become my sword in the very near future." I think it has to do with noobs wanting to learn faster and make money quicker. Plus a lot of them have friends already playing so they think they can do the same things without penalty. So as far as I'm concerned you guys can come right into low sec space and I'll gladly help you into a new ship. I don't care who you are or what you're in, more than likely you are getting a quick ride home and I'm getting some loot to sell.

Not to long ago, probably about 3 weeks, I was travelling in my crow through 0.0, and as I came up to the warp gate, I see a guy there in a blackbird who isn't even a month old, and he tried to kill me. So of course I fought back, he target jammed me, ONCE. Then I re-targeted him and blew his ship up. If these new players want to come out to 0.0, it's fine with me.. but they've gotta be willing to risk their ships. It's very likely they'll run into someone who will want to kill them. ---------------------------------- I <3 mining. |

I'm confused. You are the same Armoured Assassins that try to beat the 'pod-kills in last hour'-record in Ostingele each day right? Now I personally dont have any problems with that, tbh, it kinda excites me to travel through Stacmon-Ostingele. But I can imagine that some players would consider indiscriminative killing in empire space griefing.

I'd suspect that using a 14 day trail would give you incentive to go explore 0.4-0.0. Expecially if you don't plan on playing again.

I remember when I got taken down in my indy twice in the same day by Jus2awesome. It was cool with me cause I knew I was taking a chance. I wasnt a poor charcter so I just doubled the reward out on him. Then I sent him a mail asking how much it would cost me to go through this gate with another indy without getting ganked. I mean.. whats the use of pirating if you are not out to make a profit right.

Unless you are actually tanking the sentries. Then I would call you an exploiter. 0.1-0.4 space is for ganking in belts. 0.0 is for gate ganking. But I guess thats where the missing part comes in, skill
This just gonna end with getting craptastic POS range sentries at gates with 300km+ range

Edited by: Koda on 28/12/2004 22:03:10 Edited by: Koda on 28/12/2004 22:01:35 Noobs have every right to be in low sec. space so long as they accept the possibility they might get blown up.
A factor I think that contributes to this is the "Battleship 4 teh win" attitude. It's not so much wanting a battleship as it is thinking that everything else sucks. It creates situations where 60 day old characters are flying Ravens with mining lasers and micro shield extenders. IMO it's not fun for the player because they mine their ass off to get the ship. Then full of confidence, they take their uber-mobile out and either lose it to NPC's or get ganked because their skills haven't caught up.

Ok this is the way I look at it.. I'm a pirate that likes to grief in 0.0-.4 if any people come into a .1 -.4 system I'm going to gank them at the gate at a belt at a station doesnt matter...carebears need to get over it and train up or just dont come down to unsecure space because yes battleships do get blown up at gates and stations just have to be tanking well.
Not a exploit just get over it carebears and get back to mining.

The only thing I wish it that pirates would be a little more responsive. :) I usally travel 0.0 space when I need to skirt the empire when I have a cargo full of contraband I'm trying to stock up just in case they become popular on a rainy day. While lets say my ship and my cargohold may only be worth 2mil at tops I have been willing to pay 3mil just to let me get through the gates. Pirates, it seems would want to make a profit, killers don't. So there is an distinction. I think too many people call themselves pirates when they are really not.

okey the full story:
back 4 months ago i got bored with bieng good guy. so i made a alt (caldari) just for ****ing about blowing up **** and myself. so one nigthe with a mate we find this corp doing some 0.4 hunting, and i attacked a allready NPC damaged caracal in my rocketkessie poor guy lagged out i think and i got the pod also i think?. anyway my kessie goes pop iam like whatever and gets a new one. 5 minuttes later i encounter a raven for the same corp i attacked before .. the person opens fire on me and i warps to the station, the person follows and is heavy damaged by the sentrys, and in panic doubble click anywhere to get away that anywhere happened to be the star gate 1minut later i could loot the stuff from the blown up raven.
at this point i was laughing my balls off at my 88K skillpoints alt could wreak so much damage.
turned out the insurance bugged on the raven paying out 0iskŠs and the guy 4 hours later undocked with all his remaining stuff in a indy and got killed by sentrys course of bug. Who needs a shovel when you have a nice big cannon?

Hey, sometimes when traveling, you got to hit low sec area's. Hell right when I started playing, I had to take a 40 jump trip to meet up with my friends who had been playing awhile. I made it the first time no problem. But then I took a 15 jump trip the next day, and lost my merlin =/ Nothing hurts like a cataclysm missle hitting you as your frigate as your about to hit a gate. Of course, that guy payed with his BS for it. Pays to have powerfull friends
Remember, the noob you gank, may have a squad waiting to gank you.

I've been podded just once. I got tired of running the pirate blockade in PF and decided to try pvp for the first time. I bought a disposable stabber, upgraded my clone and went to pf looking to gank a pirate all by myself. Jumped through the gate and followed a Taranis to the gate to fd and back to the gate to Orvolle where his buddy the waiting raven was. So what do I do? I OPEN FIRE!!!! 1 clone jump later I'm reading the kill mail. It was NORAD camping the gate and they had driven off the Teddybears and Tundragons and such earlier. This is what happens when carebears go bad. They try PVP and f*** it up. :)
