I know this ones gona bring up a helstorm, but its been one of th greatest questions in EVE. What is the best all-in-one ship in the whole game. Answer should be based on... -Price -PVP ability -PVE ability -Tank (be it speed, passive, active, buffer, or all) -Fitting capeability Just remeber, the answer is NOT based on weaponry and race, its about versitality. Kinda pointless topic for people to make legitment votes in cept for the very few that have actual experince in the majority of ships in both PvP/PvE envirnoments. eft can help build a foundational idea for a specific ship.. but it hardly proves anything against so many other variables that actual happen in the game.
And 'price' can mean something entirely different to each player.
With all that said, I'm just going to say what I think the majority of posts are going to end up saying..

You're going for extreme versatility at a good price; hard to argue against a Domi. |

In all seriousness, i'd say drake (or if you have the money tengu) Its good with missions and i can count on my 2 hands how many times i've been on a roam WITHOUT a drake in fleet...and they are cheap incase you go explody-boom.

I would have to say rifter is the best ship since, following your points:
-price: Its a t1 frigate -pvp ability: Its a rifter -pve ability: Shield tanked rifter can pve about as good as you can expect a t1 frigate to pve -tank: It does all of those types of tank -fitting: It has three popular fits which are all fabulous, which is an impressive claim for a frigate

Price vs SP vs DPS vs Tank vs Versatility vs Overall PVE vs Overall PVP The Drake is the hands down winner IMO.
40 mil for a fitted Drake,
-King of LVL 3`s -Decent to good for LVL 4`s -King of small group Sub BS PVP -King of Solo Sub BS PVP [can kill anything from BC`s to inty`s] -Versatile tank options from Passive to Buffer to this sounds funny active. -Good Dps when done right 500 DPS@80km with Hm`s 550-600 with Hams@22km -Best sub BS tank in game with 80k EHP Buffer and full tackle and 500 DPS -Best passive with 500+Omni tank great for WH`s
Its just the best ship in game period IMO, How many ships are great in both , LOng range short range weps, Passive and Buffer tanks, Good for Low SP and great For high SP toons...Its just the best.
Best of all is it still is underestimated and you will even see alot of forums guys talk about its weak DPS....LOL best in show IMO
To match it or beat it you need either Nighthawk 220 mil or tengu 700 mil. |

Ahh i knew this would happen
But my vote goes for the drake. Its that ship that can do all you want and has the extras like that dronebay. But if your wallet is full to the brim and you consider 700million ISK a disposable ammount of money, tengu would be my vote. Either way, they look amazing |

I will up your rifter vote with a jag. After flying pretty much every ship in the game for pvp I have settled on this one as my main ride as its just such a superb performer on all fronts. Great dps, solid tank, super quick lock time for your pod popping pleasure and nearly as fast as an inty. It's quite possibly the perfect frigate hull. |

Quoting because this is true.
Dominix is by far the most versatile ship in the game bar none. It's not only an awesome afk mission boat, but fit it with rails and a shield tank and it competes with the golem, at least against kinetic/thermal rats.
In pvp the thing is a beast, one of the best solo/small gang BSs out there, and it's a t1 ship, you're going to spend more on the mods than the hull itself.
If you're looking for one ship that does it all, you really can't beat the domi (and no a rifter doesn't even come close, it may have its uses in pvp but then so does the domi, and a rifter isn't going to pull in any decent money via pve) |

The Domi is one of the only ships that not only does well at a lot of roles...but does them at top-of-the-game class levels. Dual damage bonuses for a gank boat, tons of lows and respectable meds for tank/utility/tackle, enough highs to still make it potent with neuts. Need some logistics? Domi can fit a bunch of reps/bots and still have a solid buffertank. Cheap as heck too.
Something a lot of people miss is this as well: At current prices, the hull of a dominix and the hull of a rifter are the same price after insurance. That is to say, they're both free or better. The Domi's BS-sized fittings (and more slots to fill) are going to make it more costly, but not as much as you'd think, especially if you use some nice stuff on the Rifter. |

ps. Domi is excellent aswell and possibly better than typhoon. Tengu = failawnser cuz its way too expensive drake = failawnser cuz it's not really versatile, it just manages to do a lot of things with little fitting alteration. Good ship though! |

More like "can almost do anything"
Seriously, it's a great ship and if you're stuck in one ship forever it's an okay option. But it does everything at about 80% of optimal. There are better BS for PvP. Better ones for PvE. You're better going with a smaller ship.
Maybe the Hurricane. Very well balanced. Can be shield tanked or armor tanked. Can be fit for long range or short range. It's very fast. It's cheap. And it even fits command links mods.
Like the Typhoon, it does just about anything. But the things it does it does really well.

With Drake you can do 1/3 of the game or more. With Hurricane you can do another 1/3 of the game or more (even made coffee with it). With Domi you can do the other 1/3 of the game.
A Rifter is a cherry that sits on that pie. - Auditing & consulting

Edited by: Colonel Evans on 20/03/2010 18:21:23 Minmatar ships seem to win out on this.
Rifter (dont need to explain this)
Rupture (amazing for L2s and possibly L3s, can fit tackle, massive tank, and either a sniper or brawler setup)
Hurricane (again, one of the most amazing ships in the game, great DPS for a BC, can fit tackle, great shield or armor buffer.
Typhoon (my personal favorite, fly one all the time ) 125 Bandwith √ 1000+ DPS √ 1100 m/s with MWD √ Only 45mil, 60mil tops for a T2 loadout √
EDIT: And its a flying trash can

Dominix because of relatively low skill requirements to make it play well.
With the Typhoon, the skills necessary to fly the thing well are just too extreme. Drones, torps, cruises, and large projectiles, max fitting skills in many cases and armor skills.
In a Domi, you can do very well with medium guns, drones and armor skills.
