I have this problem with evemon: when i click the 'update now' button it simply doesn't work, nothing is updated and i must wait for the program to update it when scheduled. Sometimes i change my skill then i want to check the completation time in evemon, but it still get the old skill and clicking the 'update now' button have no effect.
Do you have the same problem? Is there a way to solve it or...?
Thank you.

Moved to EVE Technology Lab.
Also if this is just a recent problem it may have something to do with www.battleclinic.com being down right now. I think EVEMon is hosted there, maybe? Anyhow, I think someone in this forum should clear up any issues you are having.

Assuming you are talking about updating your skill sheet and skill queue; EVEMon relies on the API that CCP provides, there are some limits on this API for example much of the data is cached for one hour - if you make the same request again before the cache timer expires the same data will be returned.
If I have got the wrong end of the stick could you let me know which version of EVEMon you are using and exact steps to reproduce the problem.

Does anybody know where I can download EveMon besides battleclinic? I tried google but all the hits I got just redirected me to battleclinic. Or has any one heard when battleclinic might be back up?

yeah i'm talking about that and, to answer your question: i'm using the latest version i didn't know about the API limits, it sounds like you found the problem, but i'll tell you the steps i make, it's very simple:
- evemon is running - i launch eve online and log in - i change the skill - i alt+tab to evemon and click the update button (that little icon like a cake, on the top right with the 'mouseover' saying "click to update now")
and nothing happens
after a while the skills update by themselves.

Yes, the that is caused by the limitations imposed upon us by the API.

Yes, it is caused by the load balancing limitation at CCP's end - nothing EVEMon developers could do about. More than that, there's (much shorter, but still) another level of caching between live servers and API servers. If you change skill shortly before the cache timer expires, it will not be reflected in the API output. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Alternatively you can use EVE API proxy providers. To my knowledge CCP checks the IP that requests the info to determine if the cached period should apply. If you query the same info from another IP it returns the info with the latest changes you made and secretly adds that IP to the cached period checker.
Available EVE API proxy providers that I use are:
http://eveapiproxy.appspot.com http://api.eve-dev.com
You can change EVEMon's API provider at "Tools > Options > General > Network > API Provider". Upon adding the API Host address click the "Use Defaults" to make EVEMon add the url paths needed.
