Hey guys, as the title suggests, I would like the ability to update my characters skill training online using an Internet Browser.
The purpose of this is because in about 6 months I'll be starting university and its likely that the internet connection (if there is one) where i'm staying won't be able to support the game. It would be handy to be able to update my skill training via a browser cause then i won't have entire months of wasted skill training time when I get access to a computer capable of playing it.
I know it probably isn't avaliable just yet but it would be nice if the game developers would consider it, as otherwise I would have to keep freezing my account to stop me from wasting money on a game that I may not be able to play for months.
I have already read about the option where you can log onto your home PC via the internet and do it that way, but as i said earlier, the internet connection probably won't be capable of playing the game anyway

Your idea is new and refreshing. This is also the right forum for said idea.
...
Except it's not. It's been suggested hundreds, if not thousands of times before over the course of the last 6 years. It also belongs in the Features & Ideas forum. ---

But then again. EVE is about 1 MB/hour traffic (i measured that one) (if u don't participate in battle with hundreds of ships and not sitting in Jita all the hour) So how ****y should be connection so that u won't be able to login to add up some skills to queue?
And use laptop... And actually the lowest system requirements for EVE isn't really high... ------------------------------------------------- I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And though it is impossible I exist ¬ Trimutius |

Confirming that a GPRS connection is adequate to log into eve and change skills.
Also - this idea has been shot down hundreds of times over, basically because you are offering a way for someone to never log into the game. As it stands now - lets say your in a capital ship that is logged at a "safe pos" that just got taken over and ****-caged.
This method would permit that character to maintain skill queues without ever having to log in and risk some pewpew to get out safely. Short version - Never going to happen. But if it does, CCP will have made a massive mistake.

Alas, in the USA AT&T does many things poorly, including their tethering options.
I must say that the Capsuleer [sic] iPhone app has changed my mind. I can turn on my phone, select the app, have it update ISK & Skill training for 3 pilots on 3 separate accounts in less time than it will take EVE to launch, go full screen and bring up the userid/password screen. Probably a couple of minutes quicker than it would take to do all three and I would never have a single screen that showed all 3.
So if there were a web and a client way to train skills, I suspect i would almost always use the browser one. In particular, even if you were playing account#1 and now it is time to adjust skills on account #2, then it is not only much simpler and quicker to use the browser, but takes a lot less computer resources to set it up to run two EVE clients than one client+browser.
OP: requested many times (i.e. desired by many players) mostly resisted by veteran players (disliked by many)
I would not bet on it happening, but CCP at FanFest did say they were evaluating it, so there is a chance; never is perhaps too harsh. A hopeful sign is that today you can send and receive Eve mail from within your browser without logging in. There are reports of it working on smartphones, so in line/queue for lunch a quick check can show you the wardec.

I fail to see what would be so horrible about this that so many people over so many threads have put so much effort into shouting it down.
How does it differ from logging in briefly to put skills into your queue then logging back off? Except that it would be possible in situations where the computer power/internet connection doesn't support the game itself.
Its not like the OP suggested being able to auto-buy the skillbooks or anything like that. Obviously you couldn't move skills into your queue if you didn't already have the books.
