Hello I currently fly a Duel MAR Ishtar setup with close to maxed drone skills which has no problem with level 4's. I also hear that I can run level 5's for Gallente with a nice shield tanked version. My question is it worth it for me to cross train Caldari for torps and Caldari battle ship for the rattlesnake or should I just stick with my Ishtar for level 4's and 5's. I love drone boats and the thought of a torps spewing drone machine does catch my interest.
and a small secondary question: In your guys' opinions is it worth it to use these ships or am I really hurting my isk/hour by using these drone boats instead of a Marauder/Mach/Nightmare cause my turret skills are horrible or is it possible to still pull in good isk. Also are level 5's even worth it?

If you go caldari and rattlesnake then when you're done perfecting the skills in 4 months you will be left where you are right now, rolling around in the little aquarium that is lvl4's and doing em faster.
If you instead train up your turret skills then in 4 months the char itself will be ready to play the game. Oh, and it will also do lvl4's faster.
There's numerous ways to take, the friendliest advice I can give is to train minmatar, it will give you the machariel to mow down missions but more importantly open up some of the most interesting ships in the game while you get there (grab minmatar cruiser 5 early on).
Oh and lvl5's are mostly not worth it although I'm sure there's people running multi accounts setups that are ok.

Haha, Thank your for your attempt at advice.
My preferred ship to PvP in is a Vexor. Battle clinic seems to be down at the moment but you can check out the fit I have posted on there works wonders. I currently enjoy the DPS/Tank/Ewar capabilities of the Vexor and its ability to be easily replaced means I can have more fun taking it out against fights that are not able to be won. With that said though my isk efficiency is sitting at a nice 92.37% and I like it up there http://www.spectres.killmail.org/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=464400.
For Heavier fights I always have my Neut/RR Domi to provide fleet support and make the enemy take a hurting in Cap Neuted and Drone DPS. My Ishtar is always an option being able to put out a nice 700+ DPS. You can probably see a trend here of me enjoying drone ships. That is correct I really do like the concept of using drones as a primary weapon.
This post was to try and get some help for decisions to take my character in missioning. If you have some more advice on how to make a very nice drone missions ship I would love to hear it but try to keep the topic on that.

Not if you ask me, i use both ships and appriciate Rattlesnake as a tanker on lvl5 missions but Ishtar is as good with its low sig radius. Torpedoes on lvl5 is useless since you cannot use painter due to neut towers(cruise will not be able to do much damage either). You will be able to use damage mods and painters on lvl4 missions but im not impressed with the "missiles" on Rattlesnake even with thoose.

You need 2-3 account to make lvl5s profitable.
1 tank
1-2 dps ship with a bit of rr (ideally a marauder to make wreck balls with your rattler fitted with salvagers to clean up)
all able to pick up mission from your lvl5 agent (grind out lvl4s first if not) - this is to minimize down time since you will be turning down all the low sec mission (doesn't apply if you run in low sec)

You need 2 ships for lvl5s. One tank/DPS, one logistics (BC works fine too, as long as it can rep).
If you were to solo lvl5s you'd be better off in a Rattler simply b/c you'll do more DPS. RS can passive tank just fine. Ishtar works for soloing Kin/Therm missions but it's damage output is low making lvl5s not worth it (when compared to lvl4s done in something better than an Ishtar).

Fair enough I did kindof push an agenda. My first year in eve was in highsec and was very boring, the second in 0.0 and very fun, sometimes I get carried away and preach a bit.
I still think it was good advice though, you say you got almost perfect drone skills, you can already fly a good vexor/ishtar/domi. Getting your turret skills up next seems like a very logical step. To choose minmatar specificly was because with your skill set you'll be in a strong dramiel/vaga/machariel/tempest/hurricane in no time which serves multiple purposes.
But yea, if all you want is a strong pve ship with drone dps then rattlesnake is your chooice.

Joto did give good advice to go for Mach. Being a NM pilot myself I certainly make plenty of isk missioning with my skills. Cross-training atm toward minimatar ftw. They are the most fun ships to fly. Even though the NM totally rips though any rats, Mach would be nice to shoot other damage becides em/therm. Perhaps fusion for angels or plasma for guristas. Guristas is actually the only rats laser boats don't pop quite so fast.
Rattle does have a nice new look for tyrannis though. Will mission fairly well. But, you do have some range issues with torps to consider in using it.
Personally, having more than one ship is a must when trying to max. isk/hr.
