Well, these sub weapons you speak of are supposed to be firing at smaller ships, right? The way I see it, if that is truly the purpose of those weapons, then your BS has the weapons to fire at smaller ships AND ships of its own size.
I see two problems with that: 1) A weapon that can hit frigates etc. on the BS is going to completely render those smaller ship classes useless and ineffective.
Your answer to that problem is to lower the damage on those weapons, which leads me to the 2nd problem:
2) If you lower those weapon damages low enough so they don't destroy/hurt frigates - then what is the point of having them the first place?
You have a weapon meant to fire and hit frigates, but you don't want them to do too much damage to those frigates at the same time....?
I think the point here is that if you have one battleship, it won't be killing a frigate with these sub weapons. However, if you are flying in a formation of battleships and a frigate tries to move in and tackle one of you, then there's a good chance that there will be enough sub munitions firing to take it out.
Honestly, I like the idea. Adds a bit more realism to the game and makes it a little more tactically flexible.
You see, this game has too much "non-realism" so adding a bit of it won't help this much. Like the bigger explosion does less damage to smaller targets, while IRL it's opposite. Or even turning off engines should do nothing to your velocity. But adding missle turret models and big-sized guns should make this game better.
I actually always like watching IRL tanks and ships because of their big-looking turrets (like 20%-40% of its size) and stuff. 123 |
