Well, I just lost everything I've ever had flying back to Caldari space. I have some ISK. But I'm going to lose a lot when I buy all the important stuff back.
So I think I'll put off PVP for a while. Welcome to EVE. |

join faction war, you can solo or join gangs whatever really, totally upto you to go find the targets you want - dont sit on gates for too long or another player with the same idea might come along

Just found your lossmail, word of advice, set your autopilot to avoid rancer and crielere and just go round them. Especially when you are moving everything you own in one ship. If you are planning a route across low sec, don't forget you can use you map and look at ships/pods killed in the last hour. This will alert you to any hotspots.
Don't give up and its better to learn solo pvp before flying in gangs than the other way round imho. Spending too much time in gangs can make you soft and squidgy.

How the heck did you find my loss mail and my route?
Any way, I'll keep that in mind.
Edit: I've lost everything before and got back up on my feet. I think it's a cycle I go through... Welcome to EVE. |

Yeah the crow is pretty average ship these days. Although if you're a really awesome pilot you can make it do cool things solo.

Originally by: Lashnar I want to make a small little point here, I don't MINE in a destroyer, that's a stupid thing to do. I have a covetor, I'm working on getting a Hulk. Also, I really didn't want to leave the corp I'm in. I'm thinking about it though.
get a corp with 0.0 space, made 15 mil in an hour just ratting belts. in a battlecruiser. t1 fit t1 med drones. drake would be perfect if your caldari |

Edited by: Slimy Worm on 05/04/2010 21:44:26 Edited by: Slimy Worm on 05/04/2010 21:43:19 Solo ratters in an Amarr or Minmitar bomber, though the Minmie one is tough to fit unless you have Advanced Weapon Upgrades to level 4. You have to select your targets carefully, so no engaging Harbingers, well-piloted Drakes, Minmitar battlecruisers, nor drone boats.
Fitting: http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=9898264
There's a thread about it somewhere. That's where I got the fitting. The guy's name begins with an L.
Soloing like this requires a lot of social engineering. Find a ratting system, afk for a few hours, then attack miners and plexers. You could even make money off it if you ransom miners.
That Purifier fit costs 50 mil in Jita.
-------------
If you want to do something cheaper, pirate in lowsec with a t1 frig and cheap meta modules.

stopped reading right there.
you will not learn how to solo by ganking / blobbing, you will learn by soloing. You could spend a year doing the "bring friends" thing and you'd still not have learned the first thing about solo, it was certainly true for me. I learned more in my first week alone than a year blobs/gangs. The only reason to wait may be financial as you will lose a lot at first, but everyone loses a lot at first, this isn't changed by blobbing about for a few months, it's just something you need to go thru

For solo PVP as a new player I would definitely recommend smaller ships as frigates, destroyers, or AF/Interceptor.
Since with anything bigger then that you will represent possible target for roaming or camping gangs.
Most gangs tend to ignore small ships - and then you have a chance to find someone similar to you and try to kill it solo.

Sadly this is no longer the case. The anemic firepower of standards, combined with the fierce fitting of them, means it's good in a very limited niche - which includes anything you can kill with 70dps in a sensible amount of time. Rockets are utter crap.

Ok first up, caldari are viable solo and in small stuff, they're actually better than amarr imo. Second, interceptor and cruiser size ships are classic solo boats, interdictors(bar the sabre) and HICs much less so. In fact the only thing I see a solo onyx accomplishing is camping a gate waiting for haulers it can gank. If 20 mil is your budget, interceptors/assaults, cruisers and battlecruisers are within your reach and you've got some good options there as caldari. 20mil as a budget is a bit high to start with though, so I would suggest lowering it to around 5-10mil/ship to begin with. Personally I love BCs for solo work, but C and interceptors can work too. Third, I am no miner by any means, but I am nearly 100% veldspar will yield more ISK/h.
