You logged off while still in aggro countdown? How do you want CCP to remove that kind of stupidity, ban your account?

>The obvious solution would be a short timer that resets on incoming aggression. Thus, if you It is good thinking, however it wouldn't work because of technical issues. Or rather, additional timer would not be accepted. To implement that, you would have to change the server side code by adding conditional branching (adding CPU overhead), and have more updates to according tables in database(CPU and I/O) -> more lag. While 15 minutes is not perfect, it serves the need. OP would be probed and killed even with shorter timer anyway.

I had this problem myself once, logged of in lowsec and found myself in a pod when i logged back on. I think the 15 min timer is fair and i should not get away but maby there should be a way to inform about the logoff timer when i attack. The rule is here if somebody is interested:

I was aware you that you can't log while being Scrammed, but this is bull! Warning: This means that you can potentially lose your capsule up to 30 minutes after logging off.
Where in game does it tell you this? Really you have to read everything in the forums to play eve! 30 minutes, someone got a little carrried away. At worst you should have to deal with the remaider of the 15 minute timer. Not the 42 minutes as shown here:
Example: A pilot escapes a tight situation after being shot at by a group of other pilots and warps to a safe spot. After evading his pursuers for 12 minutes he logs off from EVE Online. The pilots trying to find him are prepared and have a covert ops frigate on stand by with probe launchers. If they can probe out his ship within 15 minutes of him logging off, they can still destroy his ship. His capsule will be similarly vulnerable for 15 minutes after the destruction of his ship.

Facepalm!
To the op, agressing someone in a system with no stations then logging off with agression timer is just ******ed and you deserved to get killed, you should send the person who killed you a thank you message for not podding you as well.

What are you talking about, Darwin was obviously there, and he even had probes with him.

That is pure crap. It works like that right now when you are logged in, why would there be any technical issues to do the same when you are logged out? Larger chance it would decrease overhead.

>be any technical issues to do the same when you are logged out? I explained this in the part you quoted. Please read again. Also ask yourself why modules stop working when you are logged off.
>Larger chance it would decrease overhead There are no chances involved here, we are talking algorithm and program flow.

i agree with the ship staying in space indef if you log off, until you log back in. i mean it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that you can set it to dock at a station and walk away from your pc before you even warp. no reason as to why you cant dock before you log off unless your in a pvp battle, in which case you may be pretty much f*cked anyway! lol CHECK PLEASE! |

What if you don't engage enemy ships 15 minutes before you are going to log off?
Mechanic is a good mechanic: - player A attacks player B in 0.0 - player B calls in some buddies - player A runs for it, few systems further he understands that his actions do not come without consequenties. Either he stays logged in warping from safe to safe or he logs and gets probed out.
Understandable that this situation didn't aplly to you but it applies to hundreds op other people in eve daily. So just don't log off ever with an aggression timer still running! Ergo: if you gonna log in 15 minutes, don't pop that juicy ship sitting there.
