Hey I'm looking for something that I can, 1 scan down players in wormwholes and try and shoot them, and 2 if no players are around shoot any sleepers I can find. Is this a lost cause or is there something out there that I might be able to work with?

You need to do some research. To scan down player ships you will need an Expanded Probe Launcher module fitted to a ship. This module should ideally be fitted to a which has a scanning bonus.
Once in a wormhole you can find sleeper sites using your onboard scanner. To find Signatures you will need core probes. Core probes and be used on Core probe launchers or expanded probe launchers.
Honestly, don't take this the wrong way, but if you are asking these sort of questions you're not ready to be doing either one of the activities you are asking about. You will die horribly. ----------------------------------------

Melisa remember this is a multiplayer game. You can't solo everithing. Get some of your buddies to back you up.
Scan ships down first with cloaky ships and then let your buddies jump trough wh. This way they probably won't see you in directional scan.

The short answer might well be, 'go back to your day job' to be honest. Wormhole residents tend to know what they're doing and have a higher SP average than your k-space mission runners. In my experience.
But, to try and answer your specific questions, you need a probing ship to scan down the players and your usual pvp ship to take them on. The prober will usually be a T2 covert ops frig.
For sleeper fighting a drake is the popular choice for class 1-3 wormholes. You need to be able to tank all damage types and generally be a bit of a badass.
Class 4-6 you don't even wanna think about without decent spider tanked fleet to hold your hand.

Dw Melissa, some peeps offer scandown services in their Bios. Anybody can do it, but some can do it really well so they charge a nominal fee. Also, look to join a corp so you can all fleet up and therefore, win. "Live the life that you got without regret, coz unlike the capsuleers you only got one" FA Page |

Ouch. I've spent months in wormholes and I still lose the odd ships to sleepers.
I was trying to ninja a class 5 mag site yesterday and didn't think 6 cruisers would be too much for my 'not really tanked coz it's fitted with codebreakers' drake. Dead drake.

Tis really depends on the class of the wormhole youŠre travelling to.
In class 1 and 2, sometimes 3 you can find people doing anomalys solo. Or even Radar/Mag sites. With the exception of the Drake and perhaps the odd Ishtar/Myrmidon the used ships tend to have heavy, capstable, active tanks. The most popular ship to attack lone ratters seems to be the pilgrim. It combines covops cloak, energy neutralizers, tracking disruptors and bonussed drones. Since it does not need guns you have room for a probe launcher.
Note that while handy an expanded probe launcher is not necessary to find miners/ratters. The trick here is to first use your directional scanner to find out in wich general area the target is. Then probe that area and see wich site you find. The target most likely is in the site. Unless they saw your probes and ran away. Thats another upside of the directional scanner, you can do this fully cloaked without any probes to be spotted. If the enemy is in an anomaly you donŠt need probes at all.
Unfortunately all the good cloacy hunting boats are rathe rbad pve fits. So you have to fit for either farming sleepers or players.

short answers:
1 - yes you can scan ppl down in a wormhole. Take a ship, fit and extended probe launcher and some combat scanner probes. and scan then. The fact you can scan ppl doesn't mean that you will be able to find them before they find you... and that's what will happen according to me. W-People tends to be quite paranoid and check the directional scanner every 2 seconds... even if you cloak your probes are visible in the d-scanner... so they will know you're there.
2 - yes again but only if you know how to fly a battlecruiser and you're very good at it. Sleeper sites can be found just using your inboard scanner (but since you're at it and you've launched the probes you should be able to find the anomalies as well)... consider that only class 1 and class 2 are soloable... the others will have angry sleepers that will probably crush you.
It is not a lost cause but i guess you should try from the beginning. To start you can just fly a Magnate, fit the probe launcher, hunt for wh and go inside them seeing what you see and how to hide (cloaking device is mandatory in w-space)... only after this practice you can start to think to "upgrade" your operationns spicing them up with a bit of pew pew :P
