Hello,
I am looking for the best ship to speed run Gallente lvl 4 missions, the 1 prereq is that it is a gallente ship. I have BS5 and would like to use that so Marauders are acceptable aswell.
Many thanks

it really depends on what you like, the domi is really the safest bet, you can tank almost anything in it, I found it terribly boring but I didn't have t2 large drones. I use a navy mega I have a lot of fun with it but it has nowhere near the tank as a domi.

Although a lot of people hate the Kronos, I find it a great ship. The Dominix Navy Issue is what I use when I am just speeding through missions without collecting loot/salvage. I also enjoy the Navy Mega and the Ishtar. The regular Dominix is the most cost effective ship out there. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

The three ships I recommend, cheapest to expensive, are:
Dominix Ishtar Dominix Navy Issue
Those ships have really good tanks and really shine with T2 drones.
I've tried a Megathron and liked it overall, but at the time, my gunnery skills were quite lacking. That and not much of a drone bay.
Surrender is still your slightly less painful option. |

you really need good gunnery to make a mega shine.

i am finding that ogres completely destroy virtually everything whereas gardes do not.
i dunno if that is just me or not?

Do they work well on Cruiser/BC size enemies? Or should I be recalling and deploying Hammerhead II's?

Navy domi is your best bet, and ignore the people here pretending you'll be armor tanking it and relying on drones. The best way to fit a domi for mission running (and the same applies to the navy domi) A couple fitting mods (and a bunch of weapon upgrades) in the lows will let you field a full rack of 425, which will literally double (well actually MORE than double) the amount of damage you put out with the domi. The tank will suffer for it, but in the end you'll be putting out enough dps to not even need to turn on the tank most missions.
Armor drone domi is good for running missions afk, and that's about it. |

If you want to salvage quickly the kronos with its double range on tractors speeds the clear up.
I'm currently flying a Kronos with rails, 4 heavies and 5 lights. I maul though missions far faster than I did with a Domi and with more security and lower ammo usage than I did with a Mega.
Isk no issue the Kronos every time but the Domi if you can perma run 2 armour reps on it.

Couple of Omnis in mids and Gardes will hit most things. Ogres take forever to get anywhere, I'd rather use hammers unless whatever it is is right in my face.

The Kronos is definitely the best ship for active piloting since you can create wreck balls for an alt to come in and pick up or salvage yourself if you've pretty good salvage skills.
The Dominix can tank anything and if you're using drones, might be a little slow getting some missions done, but won't typically get you killed. You don't need to perma-run dual large armor reps, often you just need the 2nd rep to hold you over as you kill off a few more BS to lower the DPS output.
If you armor rep the Domi, fit based on the mission and typically go with 4x mission-specific hardeners. 2x LAR are not always required, only for the higher DPS missions where you'll be taking heavy fire for an extended period of time. On the lower-damage missions, fit mag stabs and an extra 350/425.

Highs: 5 x 350mm Prototype I Gauss Gun (AM and Iron) 1 x Drone Link Augmentor I
Mids: 1 x 100MN AFB 4 x Cap Recharger II
Lows: 1 x DCU II 1 x Large Accomodation Vestment Reconstruction 1 x EANM II 2 x Rat Specific Energised Membranes II 2 x Rat Specific Hardeners II
Drones: 5 x Ogre II 5 x Hammerhead II 7 x Hobgolblin II 5 x Warden
Cheap, simple and easy, can do all Lvl4's no problem (without warp outs) except for Recon I of III, that needs two warp outs normally. Use the Wardens to snipe, if any BS's get within 20km pull the Wardens and unleash the Ogre II's. HH and Hob's for any Cruisers/frigates and Destroyers that get in close. Can usually 1 volley frigs and Dessies at 70km + range.

[Dominix Navy Issue, Pve-PG5%] (Insert mediocre armor tank fit here)
It's decent, but you're doing 200 less DPS, with half the optimal and notably worse tracking(shield tank allows for tracking enhancers). Literally the only advantage you have is more tank, and when you pass the 7-800 dps mark most missions are done before you even need to turn the tank on... My vargur for example puts out like 800 gun dps, and it only tanks about 300dps perma (something like 1100 burst, but it has absolutely no cap mods) I don't ever have to warp out, and more than half the missions are done before I even need to turn the booster on. |

The kronos is nice if you have the gunnery skills to support it.
A few nice things about it:
1) 1275 m3 cargohold. 2) 108km targeting range and can lock 10 targets. 3) It is ammo friendly, will at most need to take 2000-2500 rounds of assorted ammo types. 4) It has enough utility high slots to salvage while you are fighting. 5) Very easy to fit, have plenty of CPU and powergrid to play with.
That isn't even touching the bonuses the ship itself gives. I flew a domi for a long time as well, but I don't think I will go back to it as long as I have a kronos.
