See this topics tooltip for an example (I'm testing it here and it may not be happening all the time in which case see the topic with just a ' . ' for a title for an example.
Sometimes the old information becomes irrelevant or someone wishes to hide something important like accidentally giving personal information of their own, or others, or even accidentally giving information on exploits.
With the tooltip remaining as the original message this is a security issue that CCP needs to look into.
Just one of many glaring issues with the forums but I thought I would report on it anyway just in case CCP are capable of fixing it. "Why can't I be different and original, like everybody else?" |

I think I have noticed that as well, perhaps posting it or emailing it to the Security Team like you can see in this thread:

That's because when you "edit" a post, the original post isn't changed in the database. You're creating a "diff" that gets applied to the original post for subsequent displays of that post. More edits = more diffs created. Your stuff goes here. |

Irrellevant. The tooltip should display the edited content. "Why can't I be different and original, like everybody else?" |

It's a bug. The code that populates the tooltip text is pulling from the original post in the DB without applying the diff(s) before displaying it. Your stuff goes here. |

Yeah, what tooltips? Where does this apparently 'ugly' & 'handy' forum ad-on hide?

It shouldn't need an add on, kindly stop spamming your wares in every thread that is trying to fix these forums by having CCP take responsibility. "Why can't I be different and original, like everybody else?" |

I reported this weeks ago. I'm sure many others have noticed, too.
I'm pretty sure CCP knows about this issue and will fix it soonGäó. . |

I want to double check that I am following you correctly here so let me take this in steps:
1, Player creates a thread and in same thread he posts the text 'ABC' 2, Player realizes that this text is not correct or contains inappropriate info so he edits the thread with 'XYZ' instead 3, In the forum menu, when hovering over the thread the text displayed is still 'ABC' despite being edited.
Is this the problem you are experiencing? If so, the caching time for edit changes being displayed on the forums is approximately one minute after which the new edit will show on the thread preview.
If I am not following you correctly here, please provide more info and I shall be happy to investigate further

Seems the hint for this thread is now showing the updated post. No more 'test message' or w/e it was yesterday. In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has angered numerous people for many different reasons and is widely considered as a 'bad move'. |

That was the case yesterday, yes. After hovering right now however, it seems to have updated. In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has angered numerous people for many different reasons and is widely considered as a 'bad move'. |

If I am not following you correctly here, please provide more info and I shall be happy to investigate further That is indeed the issue but the poster below you has just noted that my 'this is a test' message which was showing up as a tooltip for well over 1 minute, at least 6 hours or more.
While you are here, can I ask why the forum updates are so slow? This would explain why the forum index does not accurately reflect the latest updated threads accurately. It does make reading the forums more laborious than it should be. There's still some issues that need ironing out so thanks for reading.

Ironic indeed
I try to be available to help out and follow up questions whenever possible but I strongly urge you to write up a brief bug report under the category 'Website & Forums' if you spot something. This info will always go to the correct team and they can get to work on it much more quickly
