I will soon be attempting to raise standings with a new corporation and would like to know what ships would be fastest for burning through level one and two missions. I have some money to spare so I can easily afford faction or T2 frigs/cruisers, or would it be better to simply use a destroyer/AML caracal? Will be in minny space so mainly vs Angels.

If money isn't much of a concern I don't think you can go past a Gila. That will mission effectively from lvl 1-4. Just fit more dmg/drone mods in lower lvl missions.

I have the same problem. Being somewhat dumb, I ran through countless Minnie missions and now have both Amarr and Caldari standings at -9. Normally I wouldn't care, but I can see it being a problem down the road if I ever need to visit their empire highsec.
I've started spamming lvl 1s with an AC thrasher and while they go down really quickly, I think that an arty thrasher might be faster. An AML caracal would probably also be pretty good.

Some sort of AF or a Dramiel might work best, I think level 1s got locked up to sub-cruiser size recently?

Edited by: Contralto on 03/04/2010 13:17:06 Check out your Ammatar standings, you may be able to access higher lvl agents already, derived standings will raise your Amarr and Caldari standings faster than doing missions for them directly. I recently took my Amarr and Caldari from almost -6.0 to -2 (after Dip V) entirely through Ammatar agents.
Once you get Ammatar standings above -2.0, you can access all agent lvls depending on corp standings which are much easier to raise.
Effect on Gall/Min standings is way smaller than doing Cal/Amarr missions directly.
You are very close to Ammatar space if your Minmatar.
I recommend a Missile boat with an Autotargeter or Sig amp. Target up to 10 rats and assign one launcher per rat. I found this faster than waiting for drones to chase down the rats. For lvl I missions anything will do Tbh.

Although missiles may work nicely on any rat, in lvl 1-2 missions you'll get loads of frigs/dessies you'd have to kill and wait for your missiles to hit them.
Arty Trasher or maybe a Hurricane (Rupture if the gate won't let Hurricane in) with an Afterburner and a few tracking comps/enhancers would probably insta-pop anything thrown at you.

Thanks for the input but now I have another question. Can I only do level one agents if my faction standing is under -2? My minny standings are at -2.6ish so will I have to do some tutorial missions, or will diplomacy fix that?

Recently went through the L1-2 grind with this Daredevil mis-fit. Has cruiser dps and is fast enough to actually blitz those useless missions. No gate restrictions to look out for either.

If you have no diplomacy skill at all then you will be able to raise your min standings to above -2.0 with just one or at most 2 lvls.
Once you get faction above -2.0 you are dependent on the Npc corp standings which are much easier to raise. Connections skill at lvl 4 should allow you access to any lvl 2 agent and lvl 3 with minimum effort.

My standing is really low. I just returned after a break. I've never ran any missions before. Is this the best/fastest way to get my standing up? I'd like to checkout the militia stuff.
Do missions in 0.0 raise your security faster?

Undertanked for L1s, and if you're going buffer fit, needs trimarks too.
( there are worse L1 fits, I'm sure ).

I just keep a heavy modulated beam laser with a radio focus crystal which lets me tag ships to my locking range and the gardes one shot pretty much everything. I don't use the laser for anything other than tagging.
I have an AB and a web on the ship in the other mid slots and a pretty basic armour tank which is all you need for L1s and 2s.

Confirming that this will murder it's way through L1-3 missions obscenely fast. You dont even need to bother with the rigs or the faction BCUs, leaving you free to easily resell the ship & modules (unless you're going to re-use the BCUs for your Golem/CNR in which case you might as well).

I'd use a Gila and let drones murder everything. For the L1s, I might use a Worm, just 'cause it'll move between gates faster.

Get an Ishkur with T2 warriors and T2 125mm rails with spike ammo.
Saves time travelling, murders frigates at distance, over-tanked with a SARII, only a few missions you are gate limited on.
If you want to do gate limited missions buy a local Imicus use your SARII and 3 drones from the Ishkur.
Keep 3 T2 cargo expanders in the hold for those fast (and annoying) courier missions.

I've been blitzing L1s for a Caldari agent for a day or two now trying to get some L4s access to missions that have Guristas rats more often than not.
I found that using a Caracal with T2 HMLs, a target painter, and precision heavies absolutely obliterates the rats, understandably. It pretty much one shots all the frigates and I honestly spend more time waiting on my launchers to cycle than killing the rats. It comes in cheap too at only some 20-30MIL in ship, mods, and rigs. Plus if you have good skills you can hit out at 70km which makes it basically a matter of warping in, targeting anything that spawns, burninating it, and warping out.
I have max shield skills, LG implants, signature focusing IV, and Caldari Cruiser V, so I get lotsa love from bonuses and skills as well. I am almost certain this lil' boat will carry me through all L2s on its own as well, tho I doubt I'll settle for it in L3s as it has relatively low DPS in its own right. Will switch over to the Nighthawk for L3s because I get the automatic explosion velocity bonus, plus an impossibly easy AFK uniform tank of 500 for L3s, and enough DPS to one shot most anything at 70km out, even frigates.

Anyway, he will need the plate, because his heavy drones won¦t kill any frig in L1¦s and as he aint got any other guns, the first L1 will need till X-mas day or till expires for faction loss.

I'm kinda new, so could you give me a an idea of what skill levels are good for this fit? I did look at EveMon and took the skills it recommended for this ship and equipment - i assume higher levels are better?

Let me add the often overlooked Hawk to the suggestion box. It will blitz lvl 1 and 2 missions with ease: fits something like:

AF's make very good all in level 1 and 2 grinders.
If some skill with the duct tape ships, wolf/jag are very nice. Hard hitting short ranged ammo and its an interesting ride as well.
If money no object:
If looking for boring kill kill kill and got missile skills...hookbill. No optimal ranges to worry about, decent tank, and if lazy drop a can orbit speed tank and assuming missiles reach its a rather uneventful mission. Lights do well against small and medium targets and the nice things about caldari, one ammo to rule them all, kinetic (ship skills at 4/5 outwiegh any racial weaknesses). Nifty trick for when your rats change out often or agent hop alot.
If you have strong drone skills and decent gallente and caldari, worm. Very spacious drone bay, fit missiles/rockets to kill things quicker...or tractor and salvager and clean up while the drones kill (if cleaning up wrecks your thing even in lv 1 and 2).
