Not strictly true i get 7.6k ehp out of my dual prop with 170 heated dps so it isnt bad.....and it makes them great at killing tackle in 0.0 Big fan of the dprop Hookbill (and by extension, dprop Hawk). Back in the dramiel swarm days I found it to be a pretty decent dram hunter. I haven't had much success with neither the bill or hawk recently, but I fear that's more due to my method of getting fights, which is to go somewhere, goad people into fighting me until twenty are angry/annoyed enough to shoot my lone frigate and just volley me :smith:
Hookbill still gets the job done fairly well. With the right fitting skills, you can turn a Hookbill into a pretty bad bird.
That said... if you want Caldari frigate combat, just go Merlin until you strain into a Harpy. The Hawk's day has some and gone. |

Quit hatin on the OP for asking about a ship haha. If everyone did all their own research then 99.9% of forum posts would not exist. Then what would we do while bored at work??/
Anyways,
Hookbill is in the top 5 of my fav frigs. Is it more cost effective than other frigs/ships, probably not. That's the case with most faction ships though isn't it?
Play around in EFT(or preferably EVEHQ)with some fits. I prefer the dual web/scram/mse fit.
Some advantages: Fast for a caldari frig Lots of mid slots Looks cool
Some disadvantages: Expensive Not a whole lot of DPS compared to some other frigs. Could use more EHP imo
I plan on living forever.......so far, so good. |

yes it's better,
yes it's worth it.
Though is shines best in FW, since it can enter all FW plexes unllike T2 frigates.
Double Web someone and kite on 7500 m and start lauching at people that say missiles are crappy in PvP.
Rocket or Lights? (And I assume you're talking T2)
Fitting is something like this.
High:
- T2 Rocket Lancher 3x
Mid:
- X5 Prototype Engine Enevator 1x - Fleeting Propulsion Inhibator I 1x - Warp scrambler II - Experimental MN1 Afterburner I - Medium Azeotropic Ward Salubrity
Low:
- Overdrive Injector System II - Balistic control System II
Riggs -Small Core Defence Field Extender I 2x -Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I 1x
Cap stable
1vs1 will give you a fighting chance to almost all frigates and destroyers (not especialy fitted to kill you) Kite at 7.5km hit Overheat
Lights have little use at the moment, the only Caldari Missile ships I see them on are the Crow and the Caracal (Rapid missiles laucnhers)

or go for the ever so popular kiting setups that 80% uses atm. i would go for this in pvp just to annoy Dd's and artys craps. Heated Fed navy webs are 18.2km, set orbite to 21km and heat mwd first pulse to get the range and bore your targets until you get the mails!
[Caldari Navy Hookbill, stoopid dd's] Ballistic Control System II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Gistii B-Type 1MN MicroWarpdrive Republic Fleet Warp Disruptor Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I, Optimal Range Disruption Script Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I, Tracking Speed Disruption Script Small Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 150
Rocket Launcher II, Inferno Javelin Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Inferno Javelin Rocket Rocket Launcher II, Inferno Javelin Rocket
Small Hydraulic Bay Thrusters I Small Rocket Fuel Cache Partition I Small Polycarbon Engine Housing II
30km range rockets, 30km disruptor non heated. Low dmg but hey, its annoying! (implant free) |
