Got to say, I am a little disappointed.
I ordered the Angel Sound pack, which I received the bookmarks through contracts in Rens as described BUT I didn't receive the pdf manual that was promised. I spoke with Substantia before putting down the deposit and she said I'd receive the products before downtime - well, it's the next day, many hours after downtime and my out-of-game gmail inbox is empty.
I realize that this may be a mistake, but for 100 million isk, that's a lot of money to make a mistake on.
I decided to try this pilot-run in-game service because of the positive feedback they have received and it seemed legit, but timeliness is extremely important in such a scenario. For all intents and purposes, it is legit, but I don't plan my play schedule around NFI, but if they are running a business and have accepted isk for their services, they should do their best to satisfy their customers (on a timely basis or as promised).
I did receive half of my package (i.e. bookmarks only), consequently, I am requesting half of the isk paid to be returned.
I will confirm how NFI Industries handles customer complaints and whether this situation was rectified appropriately later in this forum.

Understandable re Finch. Unfortunately, for all concerned, I have been overseas the last two-and-a-bit weeks ... with very limited time and poor ingame access. I try to keep the business running during travel, but it's never possible to keep it 'business as usual'. You're not alone here Finch, and several others have suffered not-so-prompt service because of my travels.
Despite all that both Hong Kong and Israel were a hoot, but I returned to the harsh realities of home (and my eve business) yesterday.
The chronology of this 'transsaction' goes soemthign like this: 2013.10.10 22:30 - Initial enquiry from Finch Ronuken "Do you still provide those Pirate Epic Arc Guides? " 2013.10.12 04:09 - Confirmatory reply from me. 2013.10.14 03:26 - Advice email sent that contract placed, in Rens. 2013.10.14 22:58 - Reply from Finch Ronuken that contract accepted and providing out-of-game email address. I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |

The chronology of this 'transaction' appears to have gone something like this: yadda yadda yadda...
Thanks for posting the time stamps above. 15:09 is definitely after down-time after when I completed the second part of the transaction whereby I purchased the bookmarks and spent the remaining 90 million isk. PDF was actually received the following day at 03:23 Eastern standard time (Oct 15th) >> closer to the second down-time.
Understandably, Substantia mentioned in a follow-up email that she's been travelling around the globe, which I believe should be no sweat when you can fly a frigate going 6 AU/sec... jokes. But I did receive the final package the following day, so all is fair.
There was a national holiday in my country on Monday and that was the day I was hoping to knock through this entire set, but that'll have to wait for another weekend or holiday as I cannot dedicate the same amount of time as some other l33t players.
After briefly going over the materials, I have to say damn - this is very thorough and high quality. I am also impressed that Substantia handled the situation with great care - that is almost worth more than perfect service. Screwing up, but admitting when one's wrong and fixing a situation when it goes wrong is much more important to customer service than just perfect service. Substantia did a great job and I would do business with her again.
I trust the other epic arc (i.e. Guristas) will be equally great. Again, because the Angel Sound one is very high quality and a good buy.

Hey DMC. Yes, thanks. Still active, although not promoting product as energetically as previously GǪ tend to be not wanting to draw attention to my presence when I am in hisec (have been giving hisec-wardec play a try). IGÇÖm planning to run each arc again once the interceptor changes have come into play, reckoning that they will probably make the interceptor the best ship-type for these arcs, or possibly the new SoE frigate. That, in turn, is probably going to be the springboard for another update revision of the manuals, although the missions themselves do not appear to have changed since the last update.
ItGÇÖs not a humungous isk-spinner, I get a much better return-on-effort from the regional bookmark sets I sell in null, but itGÇÖs been a nice background trickle of income these two-and-a-bit years. ItGÇÖs also been rewarding to develop and maintain a small service operating outside of the main game dynamic, and helping people survive taking (often) their first steps into nullsec.

Ahhh, good to hear biz is still active.
I've had your thread linked in my 'Faction Standing Repair Plan' Comments & Questions thread for a while now and I recently realized I should have also included a link in the Evelopedia page.
Well, I updated the Evelopedia page and included a link in the Pirate Standings section. It might create a little bit more biz for you. Hope you don't mind.
Yeah, I was planning on setting up an Interceptor to run the Pirate Arcs myself. I had already planned to work all the Pirate Event Agents in 2014 so this expansion is perfect timing. The buff to those ships and your Support Packages are gonna help me a lot.
As for any new updates, hopefully you still have my name and Email address on your list.
Anyway, that's about it. I just wanted to touch base with you and inform you about the link added to the 'Faction Standing Repair Plan' in Evelopedia.

Thanks for all the enquiries and purchases. With only a few exceptions our clients have zoomed safely through their chosen pirate epic arcs GǪ and some of those successes have been quite new players with virtually no nullsec experience. Well done all!
I am travelling abroad until mid-January, and as a result will have terribad access to eve. I will try to keep things running but am not at all confident of being able to do so. Please do not expect any sort of meaningful action from me until I get home again, and be pleasantly surprised if I do manage a dreadfully delayed response to your request.
In the meantime have a wonderful xmas, and a stupendously successful and stimulating 2014.

What can I say, except **Interceptors rule** for the pirate arcs now.
It has been a long time since I've actually run one of the arcs and, prompted by reports from Aspyce Corda, I thought it was well past time to try the new post-rubicon interceptors.
These arcs were designed with interceptors in mind, but for their first several years assault frigates were (arguably) way better for the role. That is no longer the case. The 'nulli' buff to ceptors makes them vastly superior for the pirate arcs. They do not clear the mission sites as quickly as an AF, but there is much, much less hassle and faffing around travelling between mission and agent locations.
It took me just under three hours to complete the Guristas, Smash & Grab, arc and I was not trying particularly to blitz it.
So, I will now: - Update the manual accordingly; and - Make some new undock instawarp bookmarks for the agent stations ... much further away so virtually guaranteed to be offgrid. Fast lockers on the undock are the main station risk now, with bubbles become much less of a problem. I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |

TL;DR: great bookmarks, great guide, you should buy one.
I purchased the Angel Sound manual, which is well worth the cost for the bookmarks alone. Even with an interceptor, they'll save you hours if you're the type to make bookmarks (and I am). The actual pdf manual was much more than I expected and covered any details you could want about the Arc (with pictures!). Imagine the best guides on eve survival, with even more information and all of the actual mission text from each agent. It has great advice on each mission point, covers a lot of relevant information about null sec in general, and running missions in null sec.
A note on reading the manual, in google chrome, the pictures were incredibly low quality, after downloading and opening in Adobe Reader, the pictures looked great.
I did the arc in a blaster fit taranis:
Highs: 3 Light Neutron Blasters (one empty slot) with Null S Mids: Small Cap Booster II with Navy Cap Booster 100s, Cap Recharger II, Limited 1MN MWD Lows: Mag Stab II, DCII, SAAR Rigs: 2x Small Ancillary Current Routers
Note: I choose the smallest Cap Booster ammo I could and still get decent cap life. 92m3 cargo on the taranis, not a lot of room for even 200s, though I think they would have done a lot better.
with lvl 5 skills: Tank: 63 dps reps, 57.5%/44.8%/53.2%/23.5% armor, 60% all resists hull (dc II) Null+Warriors : 196 dps/380 volley Nav: 3660 m/s, 4.4s align Cap: 3m5s
with my skills: Tank: 59 dps reps, same resists Null+Warriors: 191 dps/388 volley (2 dmg implants: SH-603 and SS-901; noticed I would volley anywhere between 120ish to 350 for penetrating hits) Nav: 3273m/s, 4.6 align (my navigation skills are currently lacking, it's being addressed...) Cap: 4m27s
I went through a little under 2000 Null S, just under 100 repair paste, and about 30 Navy Cap Booster 100s (which I wasn't very careful with). I think with a little more attention to range and you could use a lot less ammo. Antimatter's and Void's range were way too low for my comfort, as orbiting at 2500 pushed me out to around 3500, where the null worked rather well and the Neutrons could still track.
I have a couple fitting implants, EFT says that this can be fit without them, but it's really tight (EFT reports 52.84/52.94 PG used with my skills). Be aware of the hull HP on this fit, and don't be scared to take a little hull damage to reload you AAR. You will really notice those 60% resists on hull, it makes for a great back-up tank to the repper, it's your biggest buffer by far.
Aside: I tried a kiting rail taranis, and it failed miserably. That could be due to pilot error, but the rails would just not hit anything.
If you are thinking about getting this guide, get it, you won't regret it. |

Hi Substantia,
Will the old manual and bookmarks still be viable for running these arcs?

As I see it the bookmarks are slightly less essential if you're using an interceptor ... and I thoroughly recommend using an interceptor. Interceptors are great for being able to ignore bubbles but they are not entirely bomb-proof. We regularly run camps designed to catch interceptors and these are very good at ruining their day, unless they are well skilled and well fit to be very fast align-warpers. So the bookmarks still offer GÇÿceptor arc runners the ability to take a look at the gate, or even watch it for a while to get an idea of what might be on the other side.
I have my travel-fit GÇÿceptors carrying a cloak for just that purpose GǪ along with being able to go afk for a longtime without having to logout.
A lot of the manual content relates to the detailed running of the missions themselves. This material has not changed with the recent ascendency of GÇÿceptors for that role. IGÇÖve written an update for the early sections of the manual GǪ revising comments about bubbles and ship fitting options to accommodate the GÇÿceptor buff GǪ but they do not really represent a big shift in those documents overall.
I am still seeing a steady stream of sales and all those who purchase continue to provide very good feedback, including those whoGÇÖre using GÇÿceptors.
I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |

I've just completed Angel Sound thanks to this service and immediately dropped the hundred mil to pick up Smash + Grab. Fantastic professional service, bookmarks were immaculate and covered every system you could possibly venture into.
Subs is a delight to work with, very friendly, answered every question I had about the arc, very approachable. I completed in a rocket Malediction which was great fun and basically uncatchable.
There is a short delay in receiving the PDF manual (<12 hours in my case), but the bookmark package includes a mini-manual that includes all of the text from the guide so you can begin immediately if you don't mind reading it all in-game.
All in all, 10/10, excellent service! |
