So I am curious, for people with older hardware... what is the way you get EVE working?
For years I have been running the offical CCP client on my MacBookPro, but lately I have had to choose between EVE and, say, Firefox,... and it has been getting worse. So I am curious... older hardware,... Offical Client vs CrossOver vs Parrells, vs other solution.
I do not wish to stop playing EVE, but thier obsession wish shiney and not worring about effiency is causing me headaches.....

*scream* . . . ok, even after a fresh reboot.. when I try to load the client, nothing works. Buttons can not be pressed,... spaces and expose stops working....
Maybe I am just having a bad night.. but I can not take much more of this. Apple hardware is trival compared to the endless sprawl of windows hardware. Either have a working OSX clint, or stop advertising it. If this was anything other then a game you would be looking down the barrel of a class action lawsuit by now, or possible criminal charges for fraud.....

The Parallels Emulation was the best thing for me, 2 clients, 60-90 frames each, IN Emulation (settings high, high, high, all effects on). But now it stopped working, i reinstalled parallels, windows and Eve. For now, i have to stick to the mac client which totally sucks (30 frames on the same hardware, only 1 client, settings low medium low).
I will try crossover games now.

*nod* re-install is on my 'to try' list. I also suspect that there is some strange conflict going on between the ceder layer and firefox. I always have plenty of CPU and Memory left over, but if I run both, they slow to a crawl, and eventually things stop working completely.
Hrm. So what version of windows does one find works well in parrells?

I can really only run my older MBP for skill queues and market; do not want to undock.
A no longer new iMac24 with 4GB does considerably better. Until I need to reboot.

As far as Eve and Firefox goes, try opening the star map before switching to Firefox. For some reason, Eve lags the desktop when windowed, but opening the star map helps a ton. -----
