I think it's amusing that 35m is regarded as too much for a ship. ----

They are practically impossible to kill in the plexing venue of FW. Pilot has to be half asleep and make a mistake on top to lose his ship.
Pirate frigates in minor plexes might as well be cruisers, that is how much more powerful they are when you have no large/medium neut, drone swarm or long range web options available.
Luckily the "leet PvP'ers" abusing that particular FoTM rarely come into plexes so not that much of an issue, they do dominate something fierce when they do though
Bring an arty thrasher or two and marvel at the smack talk from the irritated dram pilot who is now buzzing around uselessly in his FoTM not daring to get in wtfpwndu range of those guns.

Even though the hookbill has lost the buffer bonus, it still can hold a good 4300 shields (and she goes pretty fast with the AB going). The 20% bonus to the damage per level doesnt hurt either. So with it i get a 700volly and it moves at 1300m/s it makes a nice anti frigate and drone ship. The only real T2 combat frigates in the game are assault ships. Im guessing my hookbill could take one out. So yeah, its worth the pricetag. (was about 40 million for the ship and the fit) Its more of a collectors thing or a funship than it is for combat though. a great way of saying 'Im rich so i use faction ships'

It's not that much, but you have to consider the capability you get for your ISK – the navy frigates generally don't quite live up the price tag in terms of abilities, performance or survivability. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

For a frigate?
Yeah, it's a bit much. Especially when you consider how much the Rifter gets you for 1/4 million.
If I'm going to blow up a lot then I'd rather do it in a completely insurable T1 frigate than in a faction frigate costing 100 times as much.

Edited by: Kipina on 14/04/2010 07:43:50 I use faction friggies only because I love flying the hookbill, the speed is awesome, and the amount of different fits available for it (granted there are CPU problems). Other than that, a kestrel would almost do the job too. I would use a faction friggie to tackle other fast frigs. If Hawk would do more damage than my Blackbird, I might use it. For frig vs frig combat, a Harpy is much better, but boring, there are only 2 different fits for it :P

Originally by: Revii Lagoon my Imperial Navy Slicer is a bit slower than an inty, but can pack the punch of an AF, all while outside the range of scram / web range.
So it's slower than its most obvious competitor, but fights outside of scram range? Hmmm....
