You need to stop using those Texas science school books and use the French versions instead!
"The European Space Agency has referred to the Earth-Moon system as a type of double planet."
1) I'm from Germany. 2) I'll read up about that, although that sounds extremely strange to me.
// YET ANOTHER EDIT Please post a source where this announcement was made.
// EDIT - '"Double planet" is an informal term used to describe a planet with a moon that may be large enough to be considered a planet in its own right;'
Informal.

What kills me is that they can't even quote the Wiki right.
I'll quote the salient parts for clarification
Quote:
A commonly accepted cutoff point for deciding between a planet-satellite or double-planet system is based on the location of the center of mass of the two objects (that is, the barycenter). If the barycenter is not located under the surface of either body, then one may refer to the system as a double-planet system. In this case, both bodies in their entirety orbit about a point in the free space between the two.
Since the barycenter of the Earth/Moon system is currently below the center of the Earth, it doesn't meet the "commonly accepted" definition of a double planet.
That said, the ESA does seem to indicate that they consider the Earth/Moon a double planet system. See http://www.esa.int/esaMI/SMART-1/SEMO1VMKPZD_0.html --Vel

"Sol" in latin, is the star in the center of the solar system. I was merely talking about the system itself with the sun or "sol" included.
I'm calling that solar system, where earth or Sol III was, "Eden" in regards. It's the original community of human beings before New Eden was established. Investor |

The last contact humans in EVE had with humans in the Milky Way was about 15,000 years ago. While Earth is in all likelihood still there (unless the Milky Way humans blew up an entire planet for no reason), I don't think it's grammatically incorrect to use "was" in that context.

I agree with you on this Nullity. It all happened in the past as we speak.

It doesn't really matter if it still exists, since no one in New Eden can get there. So in this context, the use of was isn't wrong.
And how did thread devolve into a grammar lesson? --Vel

This! You made me spit my coke over my laptop.
If the solution is Sol III, as my main is gallente my area might be called "Moulin Rouge".
