Edited by: knentil on 12/04/2010 23:43:36 Edited by: knentil on 12/04/2010 23:42:09 This is perhaps a stupid question, but I was just screwing around in eft and noticed that the hurricane, with all skills at 5 has a sensor strength of 275 and a signature radius of 240. 275/240 == 1.1458 does this mean that the hurricane without any sensor boosters or ECCM's is unprobable with all skills at 5? It was my understanding that all it needed to be was at least 1.08?
Maybe eft is wrong or I don't understand the unprobable formula?
If true, I guess its pretty cool for a BC to be unprobable without any fit modifications, maybe true of alot of ships with all L5 skils?
Then again I guess it really doesn't matter since a hurricane probably isn't a good ship choice for L4/5 missions.. :/

You're mixing up scan resolution with sensor strength.

If it makes you feel any better...I remote sensorboosted a frig and thought he could go 3k without any kind of propulsion.

Okay, so let me preface this with I'm admittedly kind of a newbie about all this sensor strength business, but here's a go at it. Take the proteus for example. It looks like it has a base of 19 sensor strength, and even with the right subsystem at lvl 5, its still only getting 1.75*base = 33.25. Base signature radius is 150km. Is it just me or would you still need a **** ton of eccm to get you to where you need to be in order to be unprobeable?

the only way to be unprobable is a cloak i think u guys mean unjammable in which case that jsut means they need more jammers on you

if you're trolling, 1/10
else - 3 simple steps to enlightenment; google unscannable ships, spray yourself with kerosene and go light a match.

Some ships do it easily some don't...
Look at:
Implants Sensor strength subsystem (assuming you're using t3) ECM modules

Rough calc: * Electronic Subsystem 5 * 2x ECCM * 1x Backup Sensor Array II
19 base * (1 + Electronic Subsystem 5 * 0.15 ) * 1.96^2 * 1.48 = 133

Sensor Strength > Signature Radius easily doable with frigs and 1 ECCM Module in Mid, T3 Ships with the Sensor Strength Modul and 2 ECCM Modules Mid and One ECCM Module on low with the right skills and without implants. If you need your Mid Slots use a projected ECCM. But this wont help if projecter is jammend or cannot tank the escalation.

Far better to use the dissolution sequencer subsystem, racial sensor boosting implants and only burn 2 mid-slot ECCMs for the unprobe-able pirate tear making love.
It is a T3 ship after all, is it not?
