Just got a Tengu for PVE (hi-sec alt) and was trying to decide what implants to plug into my clone. New to implants, since my main is in 0.0 and it's not a question of will I get podded but when will I be podded, so any advice would be appreciated.

Kindof good question I supose.
You first answer this question:
Do I want +4/+5 attribute implants? -If yes then that's slot 1-5 (or a bunch of em atleast) -If no then low grade/high grade chrystal set boost your shieldboost.
Then for the other slots you choose the ones that makes sense to you:
slot6 *If you went for the set then low-grade/high grade omega *squire pg4/8 - +3/5% powergrid *rogue CY-1/2 - +3/5% speed
slot7 snapshot zmh1000/2000 - +3/5% heavy missile damage snapshot zme1000/2000 - +3/5% heavy assault missile deadeye zml100/1000 - +3/5% all missiles velocity (mostly for ham)
slot8 deadeye zma100/1000 - +3/5% decreased factor of sig radius for heavy missiles (and some others not including ham..) Zor's Custom Navigation Hyper-Link +5% speed squire cc4/cc8 +3/5% capacitor (if you need it to be capstable)
slot9 deadeye zms100/1000 - 3/5% decreased factor of target's velocity for all missiles
slot10 deadeye zmm100/1000 - 3/5% bonus to ROF for all missile launchers.
Think that covers most of it although I'm sure someone might have opinions on it.

Thanks for the advice. I'll pick up the missle implants, but as you wrote my biggest question is which would help the most in the long run? Crystals or +4's - Better tank or faster learning? I do like the idea of the added shield boost as insurance, but it's a big investment.
Decisions, decisions. What's a care-bear to do?

With jump clones you can have them all

For a high-sec PvE clone I would go with +4 for attributes. A PvE Tengu w/ Pith Small-B has plenty of tank so you don't need crystals.
For skillwires, the only essential ones are the Damage and RoF ones. The ones that reduce explosion velocity and explosion radius are mostly gravy. Missile speed implants aren't needed (Tengu missiles fly so fast that most GPUs can't render them fast enough. )

Well that's not a question, that's something you will have to weight yourself. Like both me and the dude above me said though you can easily give your tengu waaaaaaaay more tank than your tengu needs for any lvl4 out there Without chrystals.
Since there was some trouble convincing you of this fact I'm sorry to say i'll spam my gurista plex tengu. The thing to notice here is that it's a SMALL booster with an max dps setup (no chrystals), even in this state it on paper eft tanks 1124 gurista dps, when you add in the fact that you speedtank away 80% of the bs'es dps the numbers are already just silly. For most missions you wouldn't need HALF this tank so really no need to double it..
oh and +velocity for missiles is mostly for hams like previously mentioned although they are not recomended.

And this for my HEAVIES clone:
Slot 6: Inherent Implants 'Squire' CR8 Slot 7: Zainou 'Snapshot' ZMH2000 Slot 8: Inherent Implants 'Squire' CC8 Slot 9: Zainou 'Deadeye' ZMS1000 Slot 10: Zainou 'Deadeye' ZMM10000 -- Gorgeous, delicious, deculture! |

Edited by: YarrMama on 14/04/2010 19:16:05 LOL - no trouble convincing me of the tank on a tengu. I've only had it a week and it's a big investment, so I guess I was being over cautious. Not sure why, the insurance payout is great right now.
I'll go with the +4's, I have a clone with them now and no skill implants. I'll add them and save myself a bill+ for HG's. Thanks for the idea of a HAM clone and Heavy clone, good idea. And spam away on the fittings, I'll take all the advice I can get. I've quickly learned experience beats EFT every time.
Thanks again for all the advice.
