Ethos777	Posted - 2010.04.14 08:51:00 - [1] Ok so I have one post on the ships forum looking for a really detailed description of all the differences, strengths, weakness's, roles, etc of the racial carriers.. trying to get a handle of exactly which one I want.. which goes hand in hand with how I want to use it. I have a post on the industry forum because one of my ideas of what to do with the carrier was to setup a pos, preferably a large faction, inside of a class 2-4 WH and then hire someone to manufacture me a carrier inside the WH. I could use it to rat, etc while no one is in system and let it rep the pos shields and play defense if I came under attack. If anyone is interested in each of the above topics then go find those posts and comment on them, I need to know which carrier I want and to know that I need to know how I want to use it, and the above scenario is just one of a few things ive thought of. Now onto my points.. I want something I haven't thought of.. so I come to you denizens of C&P, I would really enjoy if some of you would get on here and write as much as you care to about any and all ways of using a carrier in piracy, elicit activities, or anything interesting.. it would help me out a great deal. I asked in here because I know off hand of several ways to use a carrier for pirating if done right. You will make much isk by taking a carrier in to a class 2 or 3 (or 4 if you are well skilled), setting up a POS and ratting with the carrier. The actual carrier doesn't matter much as they ALL tank well enough for this and as you can use any of the fighters, you can pick your damage type. Usually people end up in whatever carrier follows on from whatever BS they liked to fly. Gallente BSs were popular about 6 months ago, and now we have a glut of Thanatos pilots.. I expect Amarr to be the next big thing in carriers. I can not stress enough how much I would highly recomend that you do this, its the easiest way to make isk I have ever seen. (Found my sig again)
Ethos777	Posted - 2010.04.15 08:00:00 - [15] @JACK: I know which forum this is, which is why I asked for advice on ways to use them for piracy.. if I didnt know it could be done I wouldnt be asking for more inventive ways to do it. @LANA: thanks for giving me a better answer then anyone else so far.. my cap character has excellent skills for a carrier and the wh idea is one I liked but im still not exactly sure how I am going to be using my carrier, still have alot of options open to me. A class 3 or 4 would be what I would go for though if that is what I do, with a large faction pos. So far I am looking at a thanny.. archon would be alot better if I was in a large nullsec alliance but currently I am not and I havent found one that I have really enjoyed yet, so the thanny would be a good choice for the WH op.. but nothing is permanent. Im still waiting to hear some good crime and punishment ideas.. a carrier and a small gang can do quite alot if they all know what they are doing, and im sure you guys can think of much more sinister things then me.

There have been people not believing that and just went out to do their own thing anyway losing it not long after. A carrier is a capital, it attracts attention fast and people will try to kill you. They are major logistic ships and each fighter does about 100 dps, wich means it's dps isn't much bigger then a gank fitted battleship. All it takes is a few good people to take you down. If you really want to use a carrier for ratting, sit outside the pos shields and assign you fighters to an alt who can tank very well. If not, prepare to loose a non insured cap in a wormhole, cuz eventually, someone will notice.

For example there was that one guy who was using one to rat and c+p made a fleet up and popped hi..... oh wait... On another note, how long would it take to get a return on a large faction tower a fitted thanatos and all the fuel it would take to keep the operation running whilst at the same time organising logistics in and out of wh for supplies/selling loot whilst at the same time trying to run solo wh ops? might be worth looking over the maths again or getting a decent group of people together to take on the fuel burdens with you.

If repping the tower, go into triage mode and you won't be bummped out (glad that was patched). The person that owns our C2 carrier has over 101M SP, many billions of regular income, and has no concerns over losing the carrier, so he takes far more risks with it than I would. If he lost it, he'd just shrug it off and build another. Don't fly what you cant afford to lose.
