Except that in the last CCP-CSM meeting, CCP basically said they're not even considering another iteration on Faction Warfare anytime soon.
CCP's modus operandi currently is (and has been for several years):
1. Come up with a great idea 2. Hype it 3. Reduce it to the bare minimum 4. Release half-assed, half-finished content 5. Go to step 1
Whatever happened to the mining overhaul? Industry/market expansion? What about epic arcs, which have also been all but abandoned?
And now we're looking at an expansion which was promised to add a new dimension of empire control, where you rule over the populous of a planet, but was reduced to a fancy interface to essentially the same ****ing moon mining mechanic everybody hates.
I do agree with you on your initial point, however. Incarna will be a huge disappointment from the start.
You nailed it right here. This is part of the reason that I really don't want to see Incarna become a reality. It will be hyped up with all the wonderful things you can do in game, and by the time it's released all you'll be able to do is literally walk around inside a station, hang out at a bar and change clothes all day like a virtual barbie doll.
The really sad part is that the dev team has always been this way. So many great ideas have been released half-assed and been totally squandered. Things like COSMOS missions which were supposed to be so much more than they became. The vast majority of the BPC's that you can get for doing them are all crap. A couple of them sell very well, but they are certainly not the kind of items that they were hyped up to be prior to release, which was basically one shot officer"ish" items that can be obtained without having to travel to the furthest reaches of null sec. Now COSMOS has been totally ignored for years.
Great ships classes that are ignored completely after release, even though they still need a lot of tweaking to be useful such as the Electronic Attack Frigates or whatever they are called. I see them so infrequently that I probably wouldn't be able to recognize the name if I saw one on my scanner. Or how about Black Ops BS which have the skills requirements of a Cap ship, cost as much as a cap ship, kinda-sorta does what you want it to but not really, and is paper thin in combat.
Faction Warfare looks like it's going to be release and forget. It has craploads of problems and issues which have been well documented by players who want to see this little chunk of the EVE universe succeed, but all of their ideas have been largely ignored with the exception of the unusual FW only lag, which took a year of chest beating to even bring dev attention to.
What about wormholes? Part of the wormhole expansion, we were told more than a year ago, was to examine whether NPC's in all of EVE should be upgraded to be more dangerous to take on rather than just a yawn fest of release drones and go back to watching the TV until they pop. Not to mention, it was also supposed to test the viability of removing the instant mode local channel in null sec. Any idea when the delayed local channel will be implemented in null sec now that we know it's not game breaking?
So much half finished content with so much potential.
EVE is still the best game on the market and in my opinion it's the only true MMORPG on the scene since it hasn't been sharded, but that doesn't mean all expansions should have a half assed release without any re-visitations.
True. That is why they need to blob their devs on one issue at a time instead of dividing them to work on seperate issues. CCP should know by now that a blob will get things done quicker.
