On April 14th, Sturmgrenadier, Inc. [SGHQ] celebrated its 6th anniversary in EVE-Online, with the corporate establishment date of April 14 2004.
SG is a 10 year old multi-game gaming syndicate that got its start in World War II OL back in 1999/98. Many of our old-timers cut there teeth in WWIIOL and Planetside. We became a multi-game syndicate with our current organization of military-style portal commands for each game underneath an overall Syndicate command (our current organizational structure) in 2000. Typically when SG decides to play a game, we start planning on it, selecting officers to run the portal, months before a game's retail launch. When EVE was in beta, and my predecessors were checking it out, it was decided that it would not hold SG's interest in pvp and territorial warfare like WWIIOL and PS did.
With retail launch, a couple of our members started playing it anyway, and when we took a second look at EVE a few months after launch, we were hooked :)
SG at this point in its history have been pretty much all over the map, from Syndicate to Delve as a trial corp trying join Fountain Alliance, to Fountain proper, to the merger with NORAD to help found RISE in Outer Ring, to the incredible wars in Feythabolis against Red Swarm Federation, back to Outer Ring to form Cosmic Anomalies. Our more recent endeavors include being part of Skunk-works and later Executive Outcomes during the BoB war in Querious and Delve, and the latest of being a member of Gentlemen's Club (great alliance btw :) )and helping to torch Geminate. I personally feel like an old man at this point, but Sturmgrenadier continues to keep things fresh for me and my members, having started and expanded a sister empire corporation that does everything from missions to WH to mining, while keeping the core SGHQ corp a cap-heavy pvp corp with the heavy logistical backbone that enables us to move our forces anywhere in the galaxy FAST.
Along the way we've met some great corps and players we would like to call friends, and thank yous go out to Resurrection [REZ]. We can't seem to not keep following each other into different alliances and goals over the years (all 6 of them) and your friendship has always ment a lot to us. To all the other corps we worked with or against - you've made our time here in EVE a great one, and we don't expect to be leaving any time soon. I'm not a bitter vet (yet) and while I've been in SG now for 6+ years, and in SG EVE for 5+, I can honestly say that we're not done yet, and there's more in store for SGHQ, our other empire corps, and the SG EVE Portal as well. We'll see you all in space :)
