When your out in the belts or a plex how would I use the directional scanner to find out if the neut/red in system is looking for me? A friend said to use it at max range and 360o and keep an eye for combat scanner probe or sisters combat probe?

Edited by: Marko Riva on 21/04/2010 10:55:51 - disable the "use overview setting" tickbox - sort on name and search for "scanner probe" name - scan 360 degrees full range - realise that you can be probed out in 8 seconds so scan every few seconds
Good luck.
-edit-
I made this pic a while back for someone else, enjoy.

Max range on the scanner works out to over 14 AU. Is that really necessary or would I be better off with it in the 2 - 8 AU range?

You want to know if someone is looking for you not how close they are to you so yes have the scan full range. See hostiles and probes = get safe.

I wouldn't, if you set the range too short you might not catch his probes as he's still using 8 or 16AU. The earlier you're alerted to combat probes the better even if that means having to scroll through more crap on the scanner.

Sound advice. Tackling domi's in a belt always makes me nervous.

If you need probes to locate a belt ratter you're doing it wrong.
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

I've seen the light, why our server performance is that bad recently. Its because of carebears in their ravens, spamming scan every 2 seconds.
