Edited by: Vossejongk on 26/04/2010 18:33:40 Right so I'm kind of tired flying around with my Hurricane because its massive turn around with the 100mn afterburner (mwd goes too fast, 10mn isn't fast enough), so I've come up with a competition of who can design the best salvage boat.
Prize money 10.000.000,00 isk!
Requirements: 8 high slots (4 salvager 4 tractor beam) Around 450m/s (with or without MWD/AB doesn't matter) Cap stable! Minimum 1500m3 cargo capacity, preferably 2000m3 T1 ships only (Race isn't a problem, but I would like if you "avoid" Amarr (Reason will be kept private :P) If this isn't possible then it won't matter. Manoeuvrability should be fairly "Ok", as in it wont take 30 seconds to do a 180 degree turn from full speed Avoiding pricy modules like faction/high meta is a +!
Best fit in my opinion wins, regardless of what others say :) ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

Edited by: Vossejongk on 26/04/2010 18:43:30 Why a DCU/shield extender when its only used salvaging missions (my own ones) :) ? Sorry forgot to specify that in the OP but thought it was obvious :). ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

Edited by: Vossejongk on 26/04/2010 18:49:23 Nano would be better as it decreases ships mass thus easyer turning :) Edit: Updated OP, forgot the rigs (salvage tackle..) ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

That can be fixed partially with skills (reducing drawback) so its not that big of a problem.
I'm waiting it out now and see what other people come up with, feel free ofcourse to update your own setup at any time if you wish to, just notify me that you did because otherwise I might miss it :). ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

Originally by: Destrous Tester Sorry to disappoint, but the Hurricane is by far the best salvager.
First of all, drop the 100 AB and put a 10 MWD, you say the MWD goes too fast, great click the speed box below your cap to limit your max speed. You can then manually fly a cap stable 450m/s salvage boat just as you requested :) But you'll still have the option to fly 800 m/s which helps since there'll still be instances where having a faster than 450-500m/s salvage boat is helpful.
This will be my salvage boat when I finally decide to crosstrain minmatar. I have been flying almost this exact same setup on the Harbinger for a while now though, the 5/3 split on tractors/salvagers is key and actually speeds up salvaging quite a bit.
[Hurricane, Salvager] Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II Expanded Cargohold II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Sensor Booster II
Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Salvager I Salvager I Salvager I
Medium Salvage Tackle I Medium Salvage Tackle I Medium Salvage Tackle I
It wont fix the massive turnaround time which is annoying me most right now, so it kinda falls out of the boat :(
Edit: Favourite right now is the Catalyst destroyer! ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

Originally by: Destrous Tester Your large turnaround time is caused by the oversized AB though, the ship itself with a proper sized MWD will be far more maneuverable.
Just to give you EFT numbers, with the MWD on you'll allign and warp out in 12 seconds, with a 100 AB that number jumps up to 43 seconds.
Ah, that explains alot, seriously need to reconsider now o_O
Edit: try your suggestion and see how it goes. ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

Oh it sure will. Just did the blockade and was finished in about 10 minutes, would have taken me double with my old setup. ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

Will see some more but I think it will be my choice :) Edit2: Choice has been made, Destrous Tester wins the competition =)
10.000.000,00 isk will land in your wallet shortly :D
First you set some requirements about the setup of the boat and in the end you call someone the winner who posted a fit that didn't follow the requirements in the original post. What kind of douchebaggery is that?
I really think Destrous Testers setup is a good one, but this way you put people who followed your listed requirements at a disadvantage.
Sorry for the late reply but whats wrong with beeing open-minded for change? Alot of people have posted fits that didn't meet the requierments because the fit was simply better. Destrous did thesame (only the high's were off from req's) and with that he won. Simply because someone is asking for something very specific it doesnt means you can't offer something (much) better, infact thats what you always should try to do.
PS. I still use the 4/4 salv/tractor setup because thats what i'm comfortable with, but the 10mn mwd works like a charm and I feel like i'm a cruiser :). ----------------------------------------------- But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |
