dastommy79 Caldari Di-Tron Heavy Industries Atlas Alliance	Posted - 2010.04.27 04:46:00 - [1] A battle was fought today in a system that's name sounds kinda racist. Tonight at 0130 Atlas pilots turned to the NC and said " I WILL DIE IN A FIRE BECAUSE I AM BORED" and they did. We assembled at 01:30 hours in our conqured station OBE- Caldari Provisions at planet 6. Our gang was mostly caps with some lol support (i didn't know we had pilots that cant fly capitals). We waited for like an hour to form up as per normal alliance combat and support cyno'd into system. They were followed by our massive capfleet of I'm gonna guesses 60-80ish? We'll find out the actual numbers once all the dead are counted. A ME tower was coming out of reinforcement and we proceeded to pwn it. Then our FC warped the fleet off and like 1-2 dreads were caught by the NC support fleet. Then a hostile cyno opens up and their capfleet comes in. SO now what do we do? Take the 2 cap losses and go home? **** NO!! We warp the cap fleet back in to the cyno at range (minus the motherships/titans)and have at it. Local is like at 300 something and we are outnumbered roughly 3-1. Our support fleet dies in a fire. Enemy titan (leviathan?) tackled in bubble but wont die. We switched back to normal caps and fire. Slowly one by one we lost capitals. We tried to reinforce them with our suicide squads but the enemy had too many dudes. I lost my moros that elo gave me and my 2 year old carrier "k4nedas revenge" but they went down in a blaze of glory. Finally the FC called off any more reinforcements and we fought till the last ship went down. Battle took about 2 hours, we definitely got a bloody nose but gave it as good as we got. Was a lot of fun. We fought till the last dread went down, FC did a great job and guns cycled good with manual fire. Angry Propellers for the NC for giving us a fight. fake edit: if you are planning a corp theft in atlas we used all the backup dreads so you cant haz none. Second fake edit: Who ever was that thanatos pilot that kept me tackled when the carriers were given the ok to jump out: SCREW YOU I role play ewok

So atlas eats more bombs, and warps their support out. with all our support on their caps, they have to bring their BS back to try and clear us. and this time the probe hictor doesn't fail and the bombs hit hard. i die (ofc) but by this point its effectively 15-20 support and 50 caps vs. our 150-200 support calls are made for caps to start forming. somewhere the bubbles all get bombed or something and the vast majority of the ATLAS caps warp away including all teh supers, leaving 4 regular caaps. our support begins chewing on them but isn't making much progress. whether a good move or bad, we jump in about 20 caps to finish the four. which of course convinces atlas to come back in with their capfleet. so our 20 caps start getting **d pretty harshly by their 40 or so. we keep spamming for more and eventually we have about another 20 ready and we bring them in. finally comfortable to use supercaps, we jump in two titans and a couple supers i think. having been burning midpoints from Pure blind when i jumped my titan in i was at zero % cap figuring that i wouldn't be a problem. unluckily my titan bumps directly into the center of their blob, at zero cap, barely able to keep my hardeners on. to say there was some girly shrieks is an understatement. lag was making it impossible to get my broadcast window up, and i re-installed eve yesterday so i had lost my macro's. luckily, the giganticness of my buffer keeps me ok, i dropped down to about 45-50% shield at which point the carriers got some energy transfers and shield reps on my by broadcasting me as a target. i think they decided they had a chance and added another 20 caps or so at this point while our own caps kept coming into system non-stop like a flood. at this point they keep primary on me for about 10 minutes maybe before they give up, and then later on imperians titan for even less effect. More titans and dreads keep piling in and the outcome starts to become clear. eventually atlas gives an evac order and we mop up for 10-15 minutes. my guess is about 20-25 caps lsot about 40 killed. + their whole support fleet. killboards should be more up to date in a couple hours looking at killboards on both side and counting them up, at the time of this post. Atlas- 29 caps down NC - 24 caps down. (6 WI, 12 Razor, 4 MM, 1 OWN, 1 UNITED FRONT)

Anyhow, Sounds like a fun fight!

My point wasn't to belittle you for taking a risky decision for a suboptimal outcome, it was for taking a less-than-risky decision and trying to paint it off as a 'for the lulz' move when you took it on the belief that it yielded a reasonable chance of success. Now, a good fight was had, caps duked it out at optimals (your cap fits are a bit :cripes:) and lots of pretty explosions, but I'm still saying it was disingenuous to say it was a pure suicide op. Also, IT kind of wins the baww award overall for refusing to jump in the support fleet to help with uncamped gates. Either way, not a war tilter by any stretch, but I think we can just cut through and say it was a misinformed call.
