I got my copy of PC gamer through the post today and eve online has apparently been voted the 3rd best game ever by pc gamer uk readers. Was beaten by fallout 3 and half life 2 for the number 1 spot.

Was Fallout 3 number one or was it Halflife 2?
To be honest, I'd plump for Fallout 3. It's absolutely incredible and I've enver played a game like Fallout 3 which has been able to elicit such emotion from me (but I'm blaming that on having kids tbfh!).
Eve in the number three spot? Er... don't you know, EVE is dying. Right?

How Fallout 3 could be better then Fallout 2 is beyond me. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Fallout 2 was buggy and very hard and slow game (loved it though)
Fallout 3 is a good game, a very good game and brought back the name, long live fallout!

No offense, but EVE is nowhere near #3 PC game of all time. Starcraft, Civilization, sim city, X-com, doom, bf1942, total annihilation, diablo ii, deus ex.....
Originally by: Jim Raynor EVE needs danger, EVE needs risks, EVE needs combat, even piracy, without these things, the game stagnates to a trivial game centering around bloating your wallet with no purpose.

ALL TIME!?
let's light this candle
1) Master of Orion 2 2) StarCraft 3) Diablo 2 4) HalfLife 2 5) Doom 2
If only movie sequels were as good as game sequels. I love Eve and all... but it doesn't make my top five of all time "A game that is significantly nonlinear is sometimes described as being open-ended or a sandbox, and is characterized by there being no "right way" of playing the game." |

Yep, MOO2 rocks and still gets superb playability after all these years. I even used to play MOO1 for so long I felt sick if I looked away from the 14" monitor.
Shame MOO3 was such a ...well we dont mention MOO3 do we?

MOO2 was awesome. MOO3 was ok, but it had to be played as a group to really make the most of it, but its interesting if you're am modder as well. As a single player and compared to the previous two games it was dire.
Apparently inquiries for a MOO4 are also in the works. - - elorran is part time theoretical theorist, dedicated practitioner of Ti Kwan Leep, and an avid connoisseur of fine whines |

Anything not #1 is utterly useless and complete FAIL!
Dying, Eve is DYING!
PS: Fallout 3 is the single most bug-ridden commercial game released this century .. CTD does not a game make.

Edited by: elorran on 01/05/2010 13:54:51 There are no bugs in FallOut 3. Those are security access protocols to help keep secret data from the Vaults safe. If you fail to input the correct sequence into the pipboy3000 when prompted, you are assumed to be an invader from the 5th dimension come to suck the brains out of earthly victims. Pipboy3000 is programmed to terminate your access for the safety of all. No mention of X-COM? 16 years old and still great.
Confirming MOO2 is still awesome, tho the micromanagement of colonies got old when you own ~75% of the huge maps.
Or Frontier - Elite II. The whole galaxy on a floppy disk, and AFAIK still the only game ever to seamlessly let you fly across a solar system and land on a realistic sized planet without a "loading" screen. And then pewpew the hundreds of viper police ships as they swarm out the station
Star Control 2 deserves a mention too.

Such awards are great and everyone of us at CCP thank you all, the players, for making it happen. Now I am going to move this thread from General Discussion into Out of Pod Experience as the conversation is going in a non-EVE Related direction.

MANIC MINER. Best game ever. Anyone remember that game? I used to play it on my 48k ZX Spectrum.
